Be the connection that helps individuals, families and communities thrive
We're looking for a passionate and community-minded individual with strong experience working with children, families and communities to join our Cootamundra team. This role plays an important part in delivering community-based support, information, advocacy and programs that strengthen families and enhance community wellbeing.
As a Child, Family and Community Worker – Community Strengthening, you'll focus on building meaningful relationships, supporting people through early intervention, and empowering communities to thrive. A strengths-based, trauma-informed and person-centered approach underpins all aspects of this role and drives positive outcomes for individuals, families and communities.
About the Role
This is a permanent part-time position working 21-28 hours per week and is based onsite in Cootamundra.
Working as part of our service delivery team, you will support community members through information, advice, referrals and brief intervention support. A key focus of the role is building community connection and participation through a range of activities and initiatives.
In this role, you will:
- Support community members with information, referrals and short-term advocacy.
- Facilitate social participation groups and community-based programs, including a multicultural playgroup.
- Monitor and manage Community Centre room hire enquiries for external service providers.
- Attend local community meetings and engage with key stakeholders.
- Plan, facilitate or co-facilitate community events and awareness activities.
- Collaborate with local services, stakeholders and community members to identify needs and strengthen community connections.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Relevant qualification in Social Work, Community Services, Psychology, Allied Health or a related discipline (or working towards).
- Demonstrated experience or knowledge of working with children, young people and families, particularly in regional communities.
- Understanding of trauma-informed, strengths-based and person-centred practice.
- Experience delivering brief intervention, advocacy and/or group programs.
- Strong communication, interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to engage with diverse communities, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander and multicultural communities.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and client management systems.
Desirable
- Experience delivering community programs, events or group work.
- Experience working alongside schools, health or community services.
- Knowledge of early intervention frameworks or mental health and wellbeing.
- Experience in reflective practice and professional supervision.
