GRADUATE ENVIRONMENT OFFICER

About the Role

Reporting to the Environmental Superintendent, you will support the effective management of environmental obligations across the operation while developing practical experience in environmental management within the mining industry.

This role provides exposure to environmental monitoring, compliance, reporting, approvals, rehabilitation and environmental management systems, offering an excellent opportunity to build technical capability and professional experience in a supportive team environment.


Key Responsibilities

  • Support site operations to meet environmental obligations and promote environmentally responsible work practices
  • Assist in the implementation, maintenance and continuous improvement of environmental management systems, standards and procedures
  • Coordinate and support environmental monitoring programs in accordance with licences, approvals and statutory requirements
  • Assist with the collection, analysis and reporting of environmental monitoring data
  • Support environmental compliance activities including inspections, audits, incident investigations and management of non-compliances
  • Assist in the preparation and submission of statutory, regulatory and company environmental reports
  • Assist in obtaining and maintaining environmental approvals, permits, licences and management plans
  • Support the development and implementation of environmental risk and hazard management systems
  • Assist in the planning, implementation and monitoring of rehabilitation and mine closure activities
  • Maintain accurate environmental records and documentation
  • Support engagement with regulators, government agencies, contractors and other stakeholders
  • Contribute to environmental improvement projects and initiatives across the operation

About You

You will be a proactive and safety-focused graduate who is eager to develop technical expertise and build a long-term career in environmental management within the mining industry.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, Sustainability and Development, or other relevant environmental disciplines
  • Some relevant industry experience or exposure to environmental management
  • Demonstrated commitment to developing skills and experience in environmental management and the mining industry
  • Sound understanding of environmental legislation and regulatory responsibilities
  • Understanding of mining operations and associated environmental risks and impacts
  • Strong organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications
  • Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels of the business
  • Experience with environmental monitoring, compliance reporting or rehabilitation activities will be highly regarded

Please note this is a site-based role working Monday to Friday at Rix's Creek near Singleton.
