Chef (Teppanyaki & Wok Specialist)

Simon King Chinese Restaurant & Kakuya Teppanyaki is seeking an experienced and passionate Chef to join our team on the Sunshine Coast, Queensland.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled chef with strong experience in Asian cuisine, wok cooking, and customer-facing food preparation. The successful candidate will work across both our Chinese restaurant and teppanyaki operations, preparing high-quality dishes while delivering an engaging dining experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide range of Asian and Chinese cuisine dishes.
  • Perform teppanyaki cooking and food presentation in front of customers.
  • Operate commercial wok burners and kitchen equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Maintain high standards of food quality, presentation, and consistency.
  • Monitor food preparation, portion control, and stock rotation.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards.
  • Assist with menu development and daily kitchen operations.
  • Work effectively within a busy team environment.

Skills and Experience:

  • Minimum 3 years' experience as a Chef.
  • Strong wok cooking experience is essential.
  • Teppanyaki or open-kitchen cooking experience is highly regarded.
  • Ability to engage and interact professionally with customers.
  • Knowledge of food safety and commercial kitchen procedures.
  • Relevant cookery qualification preferred.
