Kitchen Assistant (Prep & Pass) / Kitchen Coordinator

Ming Dining is an award-winning contemporary Cantonese restaurant located in the heart of Melbourne CBD. We are looking for a reliable, energetic and motivated Kitchen Assistant to support our kitchen team in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

This role is ideal for someone who learns quickly and can assist chefs with food preparation, order coordination and food pass during busy service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist chefs with food preparation and basic cooking tasks
  • Prepare vegetables, ingredients and kitchen mise en place
  • Coordinate food pass and call orders during service
  • Ensure dishes are prepared and served in the correct order
  • Assist with plating and presentation under chef supervision
  • Support chefs during busy lunch and dinner services
  • Maintain a clean, organised and efficient kitchen
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards
  • Assist with stock organisation and deliveries when required

Requirements

  • Previous kitchen experience preferred
  • Experience in a Chinese restaurant is an advantage
  • Able to work in a fast-paced kitchen environment
  • Good communication and teamwork skills
  • Able to understand and communicate in Chinese
  • Quick learner with a positive attitude
  • Reliable, punctual and hardworking
  • Available to work evenings, weekends and public holidays
