Primary objective
Responsible for the timely movement of patients, equipment and associated items throughout the hospital to facilitate efficient
and effective provision of hospital services.

Context statement
The role involves physical activity with manual handling training provided.
This position on a rotating roster which includes morning afternoons and nights across 7 days a week including public holidays.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Transport patients, equipment and associated items throughout the hospital on allocated shifts providing a 24-hour service.
2. Respond to requests as tasked in the CARPS management system in a timely, safe and appropriate manner.
3. Form part of the Emergency Response Team to provide non-clinical service during emergency situations.
4. Maintain the highest level of patient service skills through a professional approach whilst maintaining confidentiality.
5. Maintain dedicated Orderly patient moving equipment in good working condition and cleanliness.
6. Adhere to contact precaution instructions as per individual patient requirements to prevent transmission of infection.
7. Maintain professional relationships with key stakeholders through clear communication.
8. Ensure efficiency of processes by participating in mandated and regular training.
9. Follow defined service quality standards, work health and safety policies and procedures relating to the work being undertaken

in order to ensure high quality, safe services and workplaces.
10. Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary teamwork practices and role modelling behaviour.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. High-level of communication skills with the ability to accurately analyse and clearly communicate a range of issues with the

ability to liaise, communicate and work with people from diverse cultures.
2. Demonstrated commitment to excellence in patient service or the proven capabilities to quickly acquire the required

knowledge to provide this support.
3. Transporting deceased patients to the mortuary ensuring to follow the mortuary procedure with confidentiality.
4. Highly developed interpersonal skills with an emphasis on teamwork.
5. To have the ability to work on a rotating roster across various shifts providing a 24-hour service delivery model.
6. Sound knowledge and demonstrated ability to use correct manual handling techniques or similar experience demonstrating

the ability to quickly learn these processes in a physically demanding environment.
7. Proven adaptability to use smart phone technology and computer software or similar experience demonstrating the ability to

quickly learn and master such systems.
