The Security Officer (SO) is responsible for the day-to-day management of protective security within Cloudera A/NZ to ensure compliance with the regulations and INFOSEC requirements of the Australian Federal and State Government agencies but with the potential to extend to the commercial sector. The SO reports to the A/NZ Vice President and operates under the delegated authority of the Chief Security Officer (CSO) to manage various security activities, including personnel security, physical security, and security training, report incidents and establish the governance framework to ensure Cloudera A/NZ complies with federal government industry security programs requirements, frameworks and memberships.

The Security Officer takes ownership and will be a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and attention to detail.

As a Security Officer you will:

  • Government Compliance & Memberships: Manage and maintain Cloudera A/NZ’s eligibility, applications, and ongoing compliance for federal government industry security programs.

  • Framework Architecture: Develop, implement, and maintain security policies and procedures aligned with Australian protective security and information security frameworks.

  • Governance & Incident Response: Oversee internal security registers (including foreign travel notifications and security briefings), facilitate mandatory staff security awareness training, and manage local security incident reporting.

  • Market Growth Enablement: Identify evolving government information security requirements, working collaboratively with local teams to ensure Cloudera meets the prerequisites for major government procurement panels.

  • Security Operations Coordination: Act as the central point of contact for the local leadership team on security operations. Provide high-level operational support on highly sensitive and confidential matters, coordinating documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

We’re excited about you if you have:

  • Citizenship & Clearance: Must be an Australian citizen. Due to the nature of the government frameworks involved, candidates must have the immediate ability to have their background checked.

  • Security Expertise: Proven experience in protective security governance and compliance management, ideally within a government, defense, or highly regulated technology environment.

  • Framework Knowledge: Deep familiarity with Australian government protective security guidelines, information security manuals, and risk management frameworks.

  • Operational Excellence: Exceptional communication skills with the ability to handle highly sensitive, confidential material with total discretion.

You may also have:

  • Experience guiding organizations through formal government security accreditation processes.

  • Strong self-initiative and a proactive problem-solving mindset suited for a fast-paced tech environment.

What you can expect from us:

  • Generous PTO Policy

  • Support work life balance with Unplugged Days

  • Flexible WFH Policy

  • Mental & Physical Wellness programs

  • Phone and Internet Reimbursement program

  • Access to Continued Career Development

  • Comprehensive Benefits and Competitive Packages

  • Paid Volunteer Time
