Primary objective
Ensure the department meets all information management requirements as a Test Administration Authority for the National
Assessment Program (NAP) that includes the NAP Literacy and Numeracy (NAPLAN) assessment.

Context statement
Strategic Services is the departments centre of expertise for strategy; strategic policy; governance; project management;
and driving sustained reform across the department through the delivery of strategic analysis, policy development and
performance monitoring services, focused on the school reform agenda and identification and evaluation of emerging
planning and decision influences in the areas of early childhood, primary, secondary and tertiary/vocational education.

Key duties and responsibilities
1. Undertake complex data loading, extraction, manipulation, analysis and reporting to support the Department's test

administration and information management requirements.
2. Support department users to access, analyse, and interpret data from corporate data systems and the data warehouse.
3. Analyse large and complex datasets and present accurate, meaningful information to support evidence-based decision

making, teaching, learning and school improvement.
4. Monitor and improve the quality, integrity and usability of assessment data through quality assurance, process

improvement and the development of technical and business documentation, including specifications, workflows, process
diagrams and business requirements.

Selection criteria
Essential
1. Demonstrated experience in data management, including Extract, Transform and Load (ETL) processes, with a high-level

ability to manage complex data from diverse sources.
2. High-level proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL) and data quality tools, with a strong focus on data integrity,

accuracy and consistency.
3. Sound understanding of relational databases, database modelling and business intelligence tools, including the ability to

support effective information flows between systems.
4. Demonstrated ability to work with autonomy, accountability, attention to detail and collaboratively within a team.
5. Strong interpersonal, written and oral communication skills, including the ability to explain technical information clearly

to diverse audiences.
6. Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, meet critical deadlines, pivot for changing requirements and

interact effectively with people from diverse cultures.

Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Information Management or a related field.
