Rumbalara Aboriginal Co-Operative – Corporate Services now has the following vacancy at our Mooroopna Office
Bringing Them Home Worker
Full-time | 38 hours per week
This is an Aboriginal Designated Position, classified under 'special measures' of Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010. Only Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people are eligible to apply.

About the Role
The Bringing Them Home Worker plays a vital role in supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander individuals and families affected by the Stolen Generations.
Through culturally safe and trauma-informed practice, you will provide emotional support, advocacy, referrals, and assistance with family reunification while helping clients reconnect with culture, identity, family, and community. This role contributes to healing, reconciliation, and strengthening community wellbeing.
About You
Qualifications and Registrations:
- Diploma or Certificate in Community Services, Mental Health, or Family Support or equivalent experience.
- A degree focusing on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, histories, and issues is highly desirable.
Knowledge and skills:
- Strong understanding of the history and ongoing impacts of the Stolen Generations, including forced child removal policies and intergenerational trauma.
- Knowledgeof the social, emotional, cultural, and wellbeing challenges experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples affected by historical trauma.
- Ability to provide trauma-informed counselling, emotional support, and advocacy while respecting client dignity and autonomy.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach with the ability to respond sensitively to clients' emotional needs.
