About the Role
We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Community Worker to join our team in Central Australia.
This position supports people with disability, young people, families, and community members by facilitating access to services, delivering community-based programs, and promoting participation and wellbeing across Alice Springs, Tennant Creek, and surrounding remote communities.
This is a hands-on role involving community outreach, program delivery, participant support, stakeholder engagement, and regular travel to regional and remote communities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support participant intake, onboarding, and service connection activities.
- Assist individuals, families, and carers to access disability, community, health, and wellbeing services.
- Deliver community programs, workshops, group activities, and wellbeing initiatives.
- Support youth engagement, social participation, and community inclusion activities.
- Build positive relationships with participants, families, carers, community organisations, and service providers.
- Provide information, referrals, and practical support to community members.
- Assist with the implementation of positive behaviour support strategies under the direction of appropriately qualified practitioners.
- Conduct outreach activities across regional and remote communities.
- Participate in community events, stakeholder meetings, and engagement activities.
- Promote awareness of available services and community supports.
- Maintain accurate records, case notes, and service documentation.
- Work collaboratively with internal teams and external stakeholders to improve participant and community outcomes.
- Ensure all activities are delivered in accordance with organisational policies, NDIS Practice Standards, and relevant legislation.
About You
- Diploma or higher qualification in Community Services, Community Development, Youth Work, Disability, Human Services, Social Work, or a related field.
- Demonstrated experience working within community services, disability services, youth services, or a related sector.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities.
- Commitment to person-centred, strengths-based, and culturally responsive practices.
- Ability and willingness to travel to regional and remote communities.
- Current Australian Driver's Licence.
- NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or ability to obtain).
- Working with Children Check (or ability to obtain).
Desirable
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.
- Knowledge of the NDIS and community service systems.
- Experience facilitating group programs, workshops, or community activities.
- Exposure to behaviour support practices in a non-clinical capacity.
- Experience working in regional or remote settings.
