## Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and dedicated Hardware Technician to join our team, responsible for the installation, configuration, maintenance, and repair of computer hardware systems and peripheral equipment. This role plays a vital part in ensuring the smooth operation of IT infrastructure across the organisation. The ideal candidate is technically proficient, solutions-focused, and confident working both independently and as part of a broader IT team. You will bring a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to delivering high-quality technical support in a fast-paced environment.

## Key Responsibilities

- Install, configure, and test computer hardware components, peripheral devices, and related equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability
- Diagnose and troubleshoot hardware and software faults, delivering timely and effective resolutions to minimise disruption to end users
- Respond to technical queries and support requests from staff regarding hardware and software issues, providing clear guidance and practical solutions
- Assess and determine appropriate hardware and software requirements to address user needs and resolve system problems
- Repair and replace faulty peripheral equipment, including terminals, printers, modems, and other connected devices
- Adapt and configure existing systems and applications to align with evolving user requirements and business needs
- Implement and maintain computer networks, supporting connectivity, performance, and security across the organisation's IT infrastructure
- Assist in the design, maintenance, and updating of internal websites and networked systems as required
- Monitor and promote the efficient use of hardware assets and software applications to maximise productivity and reduce waste
- Download, install, and update appropriate software packages in line with organisational standards and licensing requirements
- Maintain accurate records of hardware inventories, service requests, fault logs, and completed maintenance activities
- Collaborate with IT team members and other departments to support ongoing projects, system upgrades, and technology rollouts

## Required Qualifications & Skills

- Certificate III or IV in Information Technology, or a related technical discipline; a Diploma or higher is advantageous
- Demonstrated experience in a hardware technician, IT support, or similar technical role
- Solid understanding of computer hardware components, peripheral devices, and system architecture
- Proven ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve hardware and software faults efficiently
- Practical experience with network implementation, including basic configuration and connectivity troubleshooting
- Familiarity with a range of operating systems, including Windows and Linux environments
- Ability to assess technical requirements and recommend appropriate hardware and software solutions
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly to non-technical users
- Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail and the ability to prioritise a varied workload
- Ability to work effectively both autonomously and as part of a collaborative team environment
- A customer-focused mindset with a professional and courteous approach to user support

## Preferred Qualifications

- CompTIA A+, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent industry certification
- Experience working within a helpdesk or call centre IT support environment
- Knowledge of ITIL frameworks or familiarity with IT service management practices
- Experience with website maintenance or basic web technologies
- Vendor-specific certifications such as Microsoft, Cisco, or HP hardware qualifications
- Exposure to enterprise-level hardware environments or large-scale network infrastructure
