About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and curious university student to join our AI & Innovation team as a Full Stack Engineer Intern. You do not need to be an expert — we are looking for someone who is enthusiastic about technology, eager to learn, and willing to get hands-on with real problems.
You will contribute to both frontend and backend work, help build and test prototypes, and get exposure to AI tools and cloud platforms. This is a great opportunity to apply what you have learned at university to industry challenges and build your professional portfolio.
What You Will Do
-
Assist the team in building and testing frontend and backend components for our platform.
-
Help create and update technical documentation for projects and features.
-
Participate in team meetings, stand-ups, and sprint ceremonies to understand how Agile delivery works in practice.
-
Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product owners to understand requirements and contribute ideas.
-
Learn about and experiment with AI tools and technologies as part of the AI & Innovation workstream.
-
Help troubleshoot basic issues in the application stack and support testing activities.
-
Stay curious — explore new frameworks, tools, and technologies as they emerge.

Skills We Are Looking For
We know you are still studying — you do not need to be an expert in everything below. We just want to see that you have had some exposure and are keen to keep learning.
Essential Skills
-
Basic understanding of frontend development — some experience with HTML, CSS, or JavaScript (even from coursework counts).
-
Some exposure to a backend language such as Python or Node.js.
-
Familiarity with version control concepts — ideally you have used Git at least once (e.g. for a university project).
-
Basic understanding of how databases work and the ability to write simple SQL queries.
-
Comfortable using both Windows and/or Linux environments.
-
Good written and verbal communication — you can explain what you are working on clearly.
-
Curious and willing to learn — technology changes fast and we want someone who enjoys keeping up.
-
Able to work as part of a team and ask for help when needed.
Nice to Have (Bonus, Not Required)
-
Any exposure to cloud platforms — AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud (even just knowing what they are).
-
Awareness of what Docker or containers are.
-
Some interest in or exposure to AI tools such as ChatGPT, GitHub Copilot, or similar.
-
Experience building a project outside of university — a personal project, hackathon entry, or open source contribution.
-
Basic understanding of REST APIs (what they are and how they work).
What You Will Gain
-
Real-world experience working on a live enterprise platform used by large organisations.
-
Mentoring and guidance from experienced engineers and technical leads.
-
Exposure to modern engineering practices including Agile, CI/CD, and cloud-based development.
-
A professional reference and, for high-performing interns, potential pathways to graduate or junior roles at DXC.
-
Hands-on experience you can add to your resume and portfolio.
