Full job description
Everyone at our Department recognises the importance of a healthy environment. The Department of Environment, Tourism, Science and Innovation - contributes to ensuring one of the world's most diverse natural environments is maintained for the health and prosperity of current and future generations. In this role, you'll play a key role in driving the protection of one of our most wonderful places.
As a Project Ranger, you will provide technical support and leadership for the implementation of the Indigenous Joint Management Arrangements across lands owned by the Quandamooka People. The role offers a diverse and rewarding mix of project delivery, stakeholder engagement, operational planning, and capability development.
You will coordinate and deliver a broad range of projects and programs, including capital works, asset maintenance, fire management, pest management, and cultural heritage initiatives. Working across multiple priorities, you will utilise QPWS systems and processes to establish, manage, monitor, and report on projects, ensuring outcomes are delivered safely, effectively, and in accordance with operational and legislative requirements.
A key component of the role is supporting the development of staff capability. Drawing on your experience and technical expertise, you will provide training, mentoring, and practical support to staff in the use of QPWS systems, processes, and procedures. Your ability to simplify complex systems and build confidence within teams will contribute to improved project management and operational delivery across the work unit.
Success in this role requires strong communication and relationship management skills. You will work closely with Joint Management partners, particularly the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC), to support collaborative planning, consultation, and decision-making. Through positive engagement, negotiation, and partnership building, you will help deliver projects that support shared environmental, cultural, and community objectives.
The role will suit someone who enjoys working in a dynamic environment, balancing strategic planning with practical on-ground outcomes. You will be comfortable managing multiple projects, engaging with a broad range of stakeholders, solving problems, and driving continuous improvement in project delivery and team capability.
