About the Team
As part of the Allied Health Service, the QCH Physiotherapy Department is a tertiary paediatric service providing high level care, based on evidence-based practice and international standards of care. Advanced clinicians are available in all physiotherapy teams, whilst supervision and governance are underpinned by the National Safety and Quality Healthcare Standards. Subspecialty teams provide patient-centred management, tailored to the child and family's unique needs that can be delivered in outpatient, day patient, inpatient, outreach and telehealth settings.
About the Role
In this role you will deliver quality outcomes for children, young people and families (Leader of Self) in accordance with the Children's Health Queensland Leadership Excellence Framework and the Queensland Public Service and the CHQ values. Your contribution will include:
Clinical Support
Allied Health Assistant
Work cooperatively and effectively in the physiotherapy team under the direction of more senior staff, to deliver physiotherapy clinical support in order to assist in the provision of efficient and effective service to patient and families of Children's Health Queensland.
Provide a defined range of clinical screening assessments and interventions for patients of the physiotherapy service), as delegated by a relevant physiotherapist.
Provide basic education on a defined range of topics to patients or groups of patients.
Orthopaedic Technician
Provide effective clinical management of Orthopaedic patients including application, removal and review of casts, splints, plaster slab, synthetic slab and casts and Orthotic devices under the direction of the designated Orthopaedic Medical Officer and the Lead Orthopaedic Technologist.
Delivery of quality patient care and education in collaboration with the Orthopaedic Multidisciplinary Team in relevant departments to provide a high standard of clinical service delivery.
Maintain relevant clinical documentation and collection of statistics in accordance with organisational guidelines.
Communication / Team Participation
Contribute to a multi-disciplinary team through departmental and team meetings and case conferences both in the Physiotherapy and/or Orthopaedic Departments.
Demonstrate effective communication skills in liaising with the Physiotherapy team and/or Orthopaedic Multidisciplinary Team in relevant departments to provide a high standard of clinical service.
Contribute to coordination of clinical and non-clinical services across the allied health domain through understanding of shared/universal responsibilities and effective communication related to profession specific clinical requirements.
Service Improvement
Undertake ongoing training and development activities.
Contribute to the development of collaborative unit policies, procedures and quality activities in consultation with the Physiotherapy team.
