BDS MECHANICAL - FNQ/GULF - WORKSHOP MANAGER

BDS Mechanical Repairs AUS is looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to lead our established team in FNQ/The Gulf. This hands-on leadership role within a large, privately owned organisation involves overseeing daily operations while guiding the team to consistently deliver high-quality outcomes.

Key responsibilities include overseeing daily workshop operations, coordinating parts and resources, managing contracts, and maintaining strong client relationships. You will be instrumental in driving team performance, achieving financial objectives, and consistently delivering outstanding customer service. Success in this role relies on your ability to foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and long-term operational excellence.

About you:

• Proven experience in management is essential
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop a successful team
• Strong people management and communication skills
• Ability to manage all aspects of the business effectively
• Capability to drive business growth and identify new opportunities
• Commitment to continuous improvement and WH&S leadership
• Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships
• Experience within an automotive workshop environment (highly regarded)
• Trade qualified Diesel Fitter, Diesel Mechanic, or LV Mechanic (preferred but not essential)
• Proficient computer skills

The Position:

• Day-to-day running of a mechanical business

Job Planning & Execution

• Job planning including customer liaison
• Assist in opening and closing job cards
• Job tracking & reporting
• Estimating and quoting

Client Relations

• Ability to deal with internal and external clients

Team Leadership & Performance

• Management of staff performance
• Workshop safety management
• Quality control and management
• Willing to be hands-on and not afraid to be on the tools
