Full job description

Bondi Public School P&C Association is looking for someone to join our team of all-stars at the Bondi Public School Canteen.

This is a full time casual position. The hours are various between Monday to Friday 8:30am to 3pm, approx. 30 hours a week and school terms only, no weekends or public holidays. The hours and days can be flexible.

Bondi Public School and its community of parents are extremely proud of our well-established and LOVED canteen, with its excellent reputation for providing delicious, healthy and nutritious food that is made from scratch on-site, and is beloved by students and staff.

The key tasks are meal preps, assisting on cooking or baking and packings- so kitchen skills are essential. You will also work closely with the Canteen Manager and Canteen Assistant to support the day-to-day operations such as managing the stock control, and ordering and purchasing as required.

The successful applicant would ideally have previous commercial kitchen experience and the ability to work accurately in a fast-paced environment, producing a high volume of snacks and meals each day. They will also work well within a small team including parent volunteers who's vital to our canteen’s operations.

The successful applicant will possess:
● Demonstrated cooking and meal preparation skills
● A good knowledge of food safety and food hygiene
● A strong work ethic and the ability to work independently
● A focus on continuing the ethos of delicious, nutritional and wholesome food
● A friendly and positive personality to engage with canteen staff and members of the school community
● Excellent communication, time management and organisational skills

Prior experience working in a school canteen or hospitality would be considered favourably.

The role requires a paid Working With Children Check and is a smoke-free environment.
