An established hospitality venue located in Sydney's Eastern Suburbs is currently seeking skilled Cooks and Chefs to join its dynamic kitchen team in full-time positions.

These roles present an excellent opportunity to work within a fast-paced and professional hospitality environment, contributing to the delivery of high-quality food and exceptional customer experiences. Successful candidates will be offered competitive salaries ranging from AUD $70,000 to $80,000 per annum plus superannuation, with remuneration negotiable for candidates who demonstrate exceptional skills, qualifications, and experience.

About the Role

  • Oversee the daily operations of a fast-paced kitchen, including staff supervision, effective delegation, stock rotation, and completion of required documentation.
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes to a high standard, both for regular service and special events or functions.
  • Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels to deliver timely and efficient service.
  • Accurately estimate quantities and costs of food and ingredients to support ordering and budgeting processes.
  • Inspect incoming supplies, kitchen equipment, and work areas to ensure compliance with hygiene and quality standards.
  • Maintain and monitor sanitation and food safety practices in line with regulatory guidelines and company policies.
  • Execute menu items consistently to standard, ensuring quality, portion control, and timely preparation in line with kitchen expectations.
  • Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to plan and execute menus, taking into account seasonality, customer demand, and supply availability.
  • Apply sound knowledge of Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) and HACCP principles in all areas of kitchen operation.
  • Provide guidance and training to team members on new cooking methods, equipment, and best practices.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment—such as ovens, grills, and utensils—is well-maintained, regulated and ready for each shift.
  • Cook dishes to order, consistently adhering to food safety, quality, and presentation standards.
  • Mentor and train junior kitchen staff to uphold venue standards, contribute to team performance, and ensure smooth, efficient operations.

About You

To be successful in this role, you should meet the following criteria:

  • Hold Certificates III and IV in Commercial Cookery.
  • Possess at least 2 years of experience working as a Cook or Chef in a fast-paced kitchen.
  • Have excellent knowledge of WHS (Workplace Health and Safety) and HACCP standards.
  • Demonstrate strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Be flexible and available for weekend shifts and split shifts as required.
  • Be willing to relocate, if necessary.
