Position Overview:

Caffe Cherry Beans is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Cook to join its kitchen team on a full-time basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality meals in accordance with established menu standards, while ensuring full compliance with food safety and hygiene regulations in a fast-paced cafe environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Cook will be required to perform the following duties:

  • Examine, select, and prepare foodstuffs to ensure freshness, quality, and suitability for use.
  • Prepare and cook menu items in accordance with approved recipes, portion sizes, and presentation standards.
  • Season and adjust food during cooking to achieve consistent taste and quality outcomes.
  • Regulate and monitor cooking temperatures of ovens, grills, fryers, and other kitchen equipment.
  • Plate, garnish, and present meals to maintain visual appeal and consistency.
  • Store food in appropriate temperature-controlled environments to ensure safety and freshness.
  • Prepare meals catering to special dietary requirements, including gluten-free, vegetarian, vegan, and allergy-sensitive options.
  • Ensure all food handling, preparation, and storage activities comply with food safety, hygiene, and workplace health regulations.
  • Assist with menu planning and estimating food and ingredient requirements.
  • Provide guidance, training, and supervision to junior kitchen staff or apprentices as required.

Skills and Qualifications

To be considered for this role, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • A relevant Certificate III or higher qualification in Commercial Cookery, or an equivalent recognised qualification.
  • A minimum of 1–2 years’ relevant experience in a similar cook or commercial kitchen role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of food safety standards, hygiene practices, and kitchen operations.
  • Ability to work efficiently and accurately under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
