About this opportunity
Reporting directly to the Lead Investigator, this is an opportunity to contribute directly to the integrity of Victoria's electoral system. As Compliance Support Officer, you'll provide the operational and administrative backbone that enables the Electoral Compliance team to effectively manage enquiries, complaints and regulatory activities. Working closely with investigators, you'll help ensure matters are coordinated efficiently, records are maintained accurately, and key processes run smoothly. Your contribution will support the VEC's commitment to fairness, transparency and public trust in Victoria's democratic processes.
About the team
The Electoral Compliance team plays a vital role in protecting the integrity of Victoria's electoral system. Through monitoring, assessment and compliance activities, the team helps ensure electoral participants meet their obligations and that elections are conducted fairly, transparently and in line with legislative requirements.
Working within the Electoral Integrity and Regulation portfolio, the team supports public confidence in Victoria's democracy by managing compliance matters, responding to enquiries and complaints, and contributing to regulatory programs across election and non-election periods.
A day in the life of a Compliance Support Officer
You will be reviewing new enquiries and complaints, assessing incoming information and ensuring matters are accurately recorded and assigned through the case management system. You work closely with investigators and compliance officers to coordinate information, track progress on active matters and help keep work moving efficiently.
You will also contribute to a range of operational and project activities, from preparing correspondence and reports to improving procedures and supporting team planning. During election periods, the pace increases and you'll play an important role in helping the team respond to a higher volume of compliance activity, ensuring the Victorian Electoral Commission continues to meet its commitment to integrity, transparency and public trust.
About you
- Providing effective administrative and project support in a fast-paced environment, including coordinating tasks, maintaining records, and supporting delivery to agreed timeframes.
- Be the first point of coordination for compliance enquiries and complaints, helping ensure matters are actioned quickly and appropriately.
- Support investigators and compliance specialists by organising information, tracking activities and maintaining accurate records on records management systems.
- Prepare a variety of correspondence, reports and briefing materials that support informed decision-making.
- Build positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate the smooth management of compliance matters.
- Contribute to improving systems, processes and resources that enhance the team's effectiveness and service delivery.
