SAILING WHITSUNDAYS IS SEEKING A SKIPPER TO JOIN OUR TEAM AND WORK ON LUXURY OVERNIGHT VESSELS IN THE WHITSUNDAYS!


The Position

Full-time boat skipper, based in Airlie Beach.

Sailing Whitsundays is looking for an experienced, qualified and adventure-loving skipper to navigate and manage our luxury overnight vessels in the Whitsunday Islands. As the master of the vessel, you will literally be running the ship, and local knowledge and experience are highly favoured.

With ample opportunity for career growth in a workplace that doesn’t get boring, the right person will be skippering an array of different modern catamarans, classic sailing vessels and diving tours. Spend your days and nights out at sea navigating and exploring on a never-end island adventure as a skipper.

Currently, this career move requires you to be based in Airlie Beach, where you will spend the majority of your weeks out at sea. This position requires valid skipper qualifications as well as all of the current, valid certificates necessary to skipper a vessel.

If you are unqualified but want to attain your skipper qualifications, get your foot in the door with our host/deckhand positions. We are strong advocates for learning and career development out on the water, and the right candidate can move from host positions into prospective skipper positions with Sailing Whitsundays!

Your Responsibilities

The skipper is arguably the most important crew member on the vessel. As a skipper, you are responsible for journey planning according to weather conditions, navigating the vessel, maintaining and operating all equipment on board, the safety and enjoyment of all guests, crew onboard and following all maritime regulations. We’re looking for a genuine, responsible and good-hearted skipper to fill this important role in the Sailing Whitsundays team!
