Full job description

Harpley Dental is a new and growing dental practice, opening in September 2026, and we're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic, and patient-focused Dental Assistant / Receptionist to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of our clinic from the very beginning, helping us build a welcoming, patient-centred practice and establish a strong reputation within the community. Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Assistance

  • Assist the dentist during a range of dental procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and patients for appointments.
  • Take and process dental radiographs (where appropriately qualified).
  • Perform intraoral scanning as required.
  • Sterilise instruments and maintain infection control standards.
  • Ensure treatment rooms are clean, organised, and fully stocked.
  • Assist with stock management and ordering.
  • Educate patients on oral hygiene and post-treatment care where appropriate.

Reception & Administration

  • Welcome patients and provide outstanding customer service.
  • Manage appointments, recalls, and the daily appointment schedule.
  • Answer phone calls, respond to emails, and assist with patient enquiries.
  • Process payments, health fund claims, and EFTPOS transactions.
  • Maintain accurate patient records using dental practice management software.
  • Support the smooth day-to-day operation of the practice through effective communication and teamwork.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Certificate III in Dental Assisting, or currently enrolled (preferred).
  • Previous experience in dental assisting and/or dental reception (preferred).
  • Experience using Dentally practice management software is preferred; however, training will be provided for the right candidate.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with patients and colleagues.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and multitask effectively.
  • A caring, compassionate, and professional approach to delivering high-quality patient care.
  • A positive attitude, proactive mindset, and genuine willingness to learn and develop new skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a supportive team environment.
  • Commitment to maintaining high standards of patient care, infection control, workplace safety, and professionalism.
