We are looking for a Junior IT Specialist to join our internal IT team in a full-time, on-site role based at our West Perth campus. This position requires attendance at the Perth campus five days per week and is not a remote or hybrid role.

You will provide hands-on IT support locally in Perth, while also assisting staff and students at our Brisbane and Melbourne campuses remotely via Microsoft Teams and our IT ticketing system. This role is ideal for someone early in their IT career who wants a stable, structured environment with exposure to a multi-campus organisation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver first-line IT support to staff and students

  • Act as the primary on-site IT presence at the Perth campus

  • Support Brisbane and Melbourne users via Teams, phone, and service tickets

  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and basic connectivity issues

  • Diagnose and repair physical hardware issues across desktops, laptops, laboratory systems, and peripherals

  • Set up and configure laptops, desktops, monitors, lab equipment, and peripherals

  • Support and maintain hardware used in remote laboratory environments (e.g. training rigs, lab PCs, networked equipment)

  • Assist in the setup, configuration, and ongoing maintenance of remote-access lab systems

  • Support Microsoft 365 applications including Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint

  • Manage user accounts, access requests, and basic system administration tasks

  • Perform hardware lifecycle tasks including imaging, upgrades, component replacement, and decommissioning

  • Coordinate with academic and training teams to ensure laboratory systems are operational and available

  • Escalate complex issues to senior IT staff with clear documentation

  • Maintain accurate records of support activities and IT assets

Skills & Experience

Essential

  • Previous experience in IT support, service desk, or desktop support

  • Basic knowledge of Windows environments

  • Practical, hands-on experience working with IT hardware including troubleshooting and repair

  • Ability to diagnose issues across both software and physical infrastructure in a structured environment

  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused attitude

  • Ability to manage multiple requests in a structured support environment

Desirable

  • Experience with Microsoft 365

  • Familiarity with IT ticketing systems

  • Awareness of ITIL or service management practices

  • A genuine interest in developing a long-term IT career

Development & Progression

  • Ongoing mentoring from senior IT staff

  • Exposure to multi-campus IT operations

  • Opportunity to progress into IT Specialist or Systems-focused roles
