About the role

We’re looking for a passionate Accessible Content Officer to join our Communications unit. In this role, you’ll help us communicate clearly and inclusively with our diverse community, including people with disability and people with low literacy. You’ll champion plain language, Easy English, and best practice digital accessibility standards in Council content.
Reporting to the Accessible and Inclusive Communications Coordinator, you will:
- Develop and deliver accessible communication content across digital and print platforms
- Lead content creation using accessible formats such as Easy English and Plain English
- Provide advice and support to teams across Council to make communications more accessible
- Help implement our Accessible and Inclusive Communications Policy and its action plan
What we're looking for
- A collaborative approach and a commitment to accessible and inclusive practice
- A qualification in communications, journalism, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Demonstrated experience in creating accessible content for diverse audiences
- Ability to evaluate communications campaigns and report on their impact
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
