City of Darwin is growing its Customer Service team and currently has three positions available for enthusiastic, people-focused professionals. This is a dynamic, high-energy environment where no two days are the same, one moment you might be processing a payment, the next assisting a new resident to find the right service, and the next resolving an issue before it becomes a bigger one.

About the Opportunity

We are currently seeking self-motivated and experienced Customer Service Officers, with a passion for providing exceptional customer service both face to face and over the phone within a high-volume fast-paced and multi-functional environment. You'll be part of a great team, managing daily customer engagement through reception services, telephone and electronic enquiries, request triage, service request management, and customer transactions. You will play a key role in ensuring customer enquiries are accurately assessed, prioritised and directed, while delivering timely and professional support across a broad range of Council services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Attend to customers promptly, impartially and courteously, considering characteristics, needs and diversity.
  • Inform customers on the range of services provided to the community by the Council as well as by other agencies and community organisations.
  • Process payments, permits and complaints efficiently and accurately.
  • Work professionally, cooperatively and respectfully with other team members to accomplish joint tasks and build positive working relationships.
  • Triaging incoming requests and supporting service request management
  • Treating every customer as an individual recognising their needs, characteristics and diversity.

To be considered for the role you must have:

  • Certificate III in Local Government / Business Administration / Customer Engagement or equivalent qualification and/or experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years' experience in a customer service environment
  • National Police Records Check
  • Drivers licence C Class

Why join us

  • Generous leave - pro rata 6 weeks annual leave and 15 days personal leave, so you can properly switch off.
  • Real variety - reception, phones, payments, permits, complaints never a dull moment.
  • A supportive team - you'll be backed by colleagues who genuinely have your back.
  • Purpose - every interaction you have makes a real difference to your local community.
