Child & Family Case Worker (Identified) | Intensive Family Support Service | Beenleigh

Employment Term: 12-month maximum term, Full-time (76 hours per fortnight)

Remuneration: $51 p/hr + Super + $15,900 NFP Salary Packaging

Your part in our UnitingCare team
Due to an internal opportunity, the UnitingCare Intensive Family Support Service (IFS) based in Beenleigh are searching for a Child and Family Case Worker to join the team. The Intensive Family Support Service assists complex, vulnerable families who are at risk of entering the Child Protection system. We are a voluntary service that visits families in their homes approximately once a week for up to 12 months, enabling us to work together to keep children safe and achieve family goals.
The Child and Family Case Worker will lead case management with families in a fast paced, high volume work environment to identify and prioritise their concerns. In this role, you will provide assessment, tailored case management, and support to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander families accessing Intensive Family Support Service, with a focus on collaboratively identifying and addressing child wellbeing and parenting concerns with cultural sensitivity.
Key Responsibilities

Build trusted relationships with First Nations children, young people and families, demonstrating respect for Culture, traditions and community connections, alongside an understanding of the historical and contemporary issues impacting First Nations peoples.

Actively engage with hard to reach families and support them to achieve their goals through tailored case planning, parenting support and practical daily living skills development.
-
Provide case management and coordinate services to ensure families receive the right support at the right time.
-
Advocate for children and families, helping to improve wellbeing, safety, development and community connection.
-
Work collaboratively with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, community partners and key stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes.
-
Maintain accurate case records and contribute to case reviews, planning and reflective practice.
-
Partner closely with First Nations Cultural Advisors to ensure services are culturally informed and responsive.

Participate in ongoing learning and professional development to strengthen your practice and cultural capability.
What makes a difference for us?

You identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander or both (Identified Position)

A tertiary qualification (minimum bachelor’s degree) in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology or a related discipline.

Experience working with children, young people and families with complex needs, including child protection. Experience of approximately two years or more would be highly regarded."

A sound knowledge and understanding of Domestic Family Violence and the impact on children.
-
Demonstrated knowledge of First Nations peoples, cultures and society, and the issues which impact them, with a commitment to culturally safe practice.

A sound knowledge and understanding in Attachment Theory, Trauma-informed practice, and Child Development.
-
Current QLD working with children check (Blue Card).
-
Current open QLD drivers’ licence.
