Details: Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) is a leading provider of vocational education and training, committed to delivering high-quality, inclusive, and student-focused learning experiences.
CIT is seeking a passionate, suitably qualified and experienced candidate to join our Student Support team as a full-time, permanent Student Advisor, Disability.
In this role, you will play a key part in ensuring students with disability can equitably participate in their studies by providing advice, support, advocacy, and development of individualised Disability Access Plans. Working closely with students, teaching staff, and external services where required, to provide students with a positive learning experience.
We are looking for a passionate, adaptable, and highly organised professional who is dedicated to equity in education and has a strong commitment to supporting students with disability.
You will demonstrate:
- Experience supporting people with disability (ideally in an education or training environment).
- A student-centred approach with a commitment to inclusive education and accessibility.
- Initiative, flexibility, and sound judgement in managing complex student needs.
- An ability to work both independently and in a team.
- Well-developed organisational and record-keeping skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with students, staff and external services.
- A collaborative approach aligned with ACTPS and CIT values.

Eligibility/Other requirements:
Mandatory Qualifications/Registrations
- All CIT and ACTPS employees are required to complete a criminal history record check form prior to employment.
- Driver’s license C Class is essential.
- Prior to commencing this role, a current registration issued under the Working with Vulnerable People (Background Checking) Act 2011 is required. For further information on Working with Vulnerable People registration refer to - Apply for or renew a WWVP registration - Access Canberra.
Desirable
- Possession of degree or diploma in a relevant field, community work, youth work, social work, disability, education or equivalent.
- Experience working in an educational environment.
- A Training and Assessment Certificate IV level qualification.
Note: A Merit Pool will be established from this selection process and will be used to fill vacancies over the next 12 months.
