Disability Support Worker – Casual
LifeEase Care Pty Ltd, trading as LifeEase Care, is a Melbourne-based disability support provider. We provide individualised support to NDIS participants, including personal care, daily living assistance and community participation. Our approach focuses on safety, dignity, choice, independence and consistent, respectful support.
We are seeking a compassionate, reliable and experienced Disability Support Worker to support an adult NDIS participant with a physical disability and complex mobility needs. This is a hands-on role supporting a wheelchair user with personal care, transfers, mobility, daily living and community participation. We are looking for someone who is respectful, dependable and confident providing physical support while protecting the participant’s dignity, privacy, independence and right to make their own choices.
Support is provided in the participant’s home and local community.
Key responsibilities
- Assist with showering, dressing, grooming, toileting and other personal-care tasks
- Complete safe transfers using hoists, slings and other mobility equipment
- Support wheelchair use, positioning and mobility
- Provide medication assistance in accordance with training, authorisation and the participant’s medication plan
- Prepare meals and assist with household tasks
- Support medical appointments, community access and meaningful activities
- Follow the participant’s care plans, risk assessments, manual-handling procedures and emergency plans
- Complete accurate progress notes, shift checklists, medication records and incident documentation
- Monitor the participant’s health and wellbeing and report concerns promptly
- Communicate professionally with the participant, family, management and the broader support team
- Maintain professional boundaries and protect the participant’s privacy and confidentiality
Shifts and availability
Available shifts may include:
- Morning shifts
- Afternoon and evening shifts
- Weekend and public-holiday shifts
- Active overnight shifts
Active overnight shifts are awake working shifts, not sleepovers.
Casual hours will vary according to the participant’s roster and the employee’s availability, up to 38 hours per week.
About you
- At least 12 months of relevant disability-support experience is preferred
- Experience supporting people with physical disabilities and complex personal-care needs
- Confident using hoists, slings, wheelchairs and other mobility equipment
- Respectful, patient and committed to person-centred support
- Reliable and willing to work as part of a consistent support team
- Able to communicate clearly and complete accurate documentation
- Willing to undertake participant-specific training and follow established support plans
- Available for a mixture of shifts, including some evenings, weekends or active overnights
Essential requirements
- Current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR certificates
- Current manual-handling training, or willingness to complete refresher training
- Current medication-assistance training, or willingness to complete it before working independently
- NDIS Worker Orientation Module: Quality, Safety and You certificate, or willingness to complete it
- Valid Australian driver’s licence
- Access to a reliable and appropriately insured vehicle when required for authorised work-related travel
- Australian working rights
- Ability to provide at least two professional references
A Certificate III or IV in Individual Support, Disability, Community Services or a related qualification is highly regarded.
Pay and benefits
- From $45.28 per hour under the SCHADS Award, inclusive of casual loading
- 12% superannuation paid in addition to the hourly rate
- Applicable evening, night, weekend and public-holiday penalty rates
- Paid induction and participant-specific training
- Paid buddy shifts before working independently
- Ongoing guidance and support from management and the clinical team
- Reimbursement for authorised work-related travel where applicable
- A supportive, respectful and person-centred workplace
