Job Description

When was the last time you made a difference in someone's life?

It takes a special person to be a Home Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their home and enhance their wellbeing. We are looking for just that person to join the Silverchain team in Newcastle and surrounding areas.

What’s on offer

  • Award rate $41.08 per hour + Super + Paid KM's
  • Casual roles with a view to permanent part time positions
  • Employee benefits program + salary packaging up to $18,550 tax free each year
  • Paid CPR and First Aid courses.

What we’re looking for

We are looking for people who:

  • Enjoy having variety in their day.
  • Are passionate about providing an excellent service.
  • Can build positive relationships with clients and their families.
  • Care about assisting our aged community members to live independently at home for longer.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
  • Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

  • A valid Australian Driver's Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
  • Experience in community care or aged care

The role

In the role of Home Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services, such as:

  • General housekeeping and making beds
  • Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
  • Washing, folding and ironing laundry
  • Meal preparation and grocery shopping
  • Personal care
  • Providing social support and transport to lifestyle activities
  • Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things

Why choose Silverchain

  • Everyone at Silverchain, from our care teams to leadership, plays a vital role in delivering Best Care. It’s a team effort.
  • Best Care is care that is safe, personal, connected and effective.
  • We are proudly one of the few Australian home care providers accredited in both national health and aged care standards. This means the quality of care we provide is expected to meet the same standards as a hospital or residential aged care facility.
  • As a not for profit organisation, we re-invest our funds into research and developing innovative models of care to set the industry benchmark for the provision of the best care in the home.
  • We'll also provide you with opportunities to help you develop and grow in your career, with training and education programs to help you achieve your goals.
