Join #Teampossible!

We have a permanent roster line available within our Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Lawnton, offering a 50-hour fortnightly contract consisting of 2 day shifts and 5 sleepovers per fortnight. To be considered for this role, you will be required to have open availability and be comfortable supporting people who may require assistance overnight.

Make an impact at Endeavour Foundation!

Working within our SIL home in Lawnton, you will provide person-centred support to older participants living with dementia and complex support needs, helping them maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life within a safe and supportive home environment.

This rewarding role would suit an experienced and resilient Disability Support Worker who understands the importance of patience, consistency and building trusting relationships. The people we support may experience confusion, verbal aggression, emotional distress, periods of agitation and disrupted sleep patterns, requiring a calm, confident and proactive approach to redirection and de-escalation.

Other key duties will include:
  • Supporting participants with personal care and daily living activities in line with their individual support plans.
  • Utilising positive behaviour support strategies, redirection techniques and de-escalation approaches to respond to behaviours of concern.
  • Assisting with meal preparation, household tasks, medication assistance, and maintaining a comfortable and welcoming home environment.
  • Supporting community access, appointments and maintaining meaningful connections with family, friends and services.
  • Completing accurate progress notes, incident reports and other documentation in a timely manner.
  • Providing overnight support during sleepovers, including responding to occasional night-time wake-ups and ensuring participants remain safe, reassured and settled.
Our Ideal Candidate

Our ideal candidate is compassionate, patient and emotionally resilient, with demonstrated experience supporting individuals living with dementia, cognitive decline, complex behaviours or mental health presentations.

You will be confident working independently during sleepover shifts, maintaining professional boundaries, responding appropriately to challenging situations and preserving the dignity and wellbeing of the people we support.

We also require:
  • Previous experience supporting people living with dementia and complex support needs.
  • Demonstrated experience managing behaviours of concern, including verbal aggression, using redirection and de-escalation techniques.
  • Experience completing incident reports and maintaining clear and accurate documentation.
  • Confidence providing personal care and supporting participants with changing support requirements.
  • A Certificate III in Individual Support (Disability, Ageing or Individual Support) is highly regarded.
  • Availability to work a permanent roster line consisting of 2 day shifts and 5 sleepovers per fortnight, including occasional overnight wake-ups.
  • Good computer skills and experience using Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Hold or be willing to obtain a Blue Card, NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid, CPR, National Criminal History Check (Fit2Work), and an Open Driver Licence with comprehensive vehicle insurance.
What benefits can Endeavour offer you?
  • Salary Packaging Benefits: Package up to $15,900 of your annual salary tax-free, increasing your take-home pay.
  • Entertainment Benefits: Use up to $2,650 of your pre-tax income for entertainment expenses, such as meals and holiday accommodation.
  • Employee Assistance Program: Access to a free and confidential counselling service for you and your family members.
  • Wide range of training opportunities to help you grow professionally and develop your skills in a supportive and dynamic environment.
  • Additional Benefits: Discounts on corporate private health insurance plans, whitegoods and appliances, Paid Parental Leave, Reward and Recognition Program, and free flu vaccinations.
