About the Role

We are seeking passionate and enthusiastic Disability/Mental Health Support Mentors with a passion for helping people. Previous experience supporting people with complex support needs is highly desirable.

The ideal mentor will be friendly, fun and engaging, building a therapeutic relationship to successfully assist our clients with a range of disability-related supports.

Location, Point of Hire and Travel

This position is based in Regional, Western Australia (Kununurra, Broome, Geraldton, Karratha). Each region is the designated point of hire: all rostered duties commence and conclude in the designated region, and remuneration and rostering are structured on that basis.

We warmly welcome applications from candidates who currently reside in Kununurra and the East Kimberley, Kununurra, Broome, Geraldton, Karratha, as well as from candidates elsewhere in regional WA and interstate who are willing to work in Regional WA on a block-roster basis.

  • Local candidates will work a rotating roster across our 24/7 service (including active night shifts, weekends and public holidays).
  • Non-local candidates intended to be engaged on a 1 week on / 1 week off block roster. Travel to and from each regional hub at the start and end of each swing is self-managed and at the employee's own expense. This consideration of this cost is identified in the overall renumeration arrangement.

Before applying, candidates who do not reside locally should satisfy themselves of their ability to reliably present for rostered duties in the successful location for the duration of each roster cycle. Candidates considering permanent relocation are encouraged to apply and to raise this during the recruitment process.

As a live in support model, accommodation is provided by the employer during rostered shift times. Casual and Permanent Part Time positions are available.

Benefits

  • An attractive salary, with block-roster (week on / week off) arrangements available for non-local staff
  • Working in some of Australia's most beautiful natural environments
  • We are a growing, innovative organisation that champions the work our people do — regular employee recognition awards and incentives
  • An opportunity to work for an organisation that invests in the quality of its services through the development and training of its employees. With a commitment to continuous improvement, ISA provides a range of education and training opportunities in a supportive and collaborative team environment
  • The role will be permanent part-time for the right candidates

Key Responsibilities

  • Follow person-centred support plans to ensure client safety and wellbeing are at the centre of everything you do
  • Provide support and assistance with daily living tasks, which includes prompting/medication administration
  • Maintain a high level of progress note-taking and record-keeping
  • Maintain a high level of integrity and regard for professional boundaries, confidentiality and dignity in the delivery of support
  • Build and maintain positive relationships with the client and their wider support networks

Skills & Experience

  • You must have an NDIS Worker Screening Check, or be willing to obtain one at your own expense
  • Previous experience working with and supporting people with complex intellectual disabilities and behaviours
  • Experience working in regional and remote locations, or the confidence and resilience to do so
  • Cultural competence in supporting people who identify as Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander
  • Australian Driver's Licence
  • A minimum of Certificate III in Disability / Community Services or relevant industry or lived experience
  • Current First Aid Certificate (including CPR)
  • Successful candidates will be required to clear all relevant probity clearances, which include a Working With Children Check and NDIS Worker Screening Check
  • Non-local candidates: capacity to reliably travel to and from Kununurra for each rostered swing at your own arrangement and expense
