Full job description

We are looking for compassionate and experienced Disability Support Workers to join our team supporting participants in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) home in Newcastle.

This role is best suited to someone with experience supporting people with complex behaviours and implementing Positive Behaviour Support Plans (PBSPs). You will play an important role in providing person-centred support, promoting independence, and creating a safe, respectful, and positive home environment.

About the role:

  • Support participants with daily living activities and personal care.
  • Implement Positive Behaviour Support Plans using proactive, person-centred and trauma-informed approaches.
  • Build meaningful relationships while promoting independence, choice and community participation.
  • Complete accurate progress notes, incident reports and other required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Communicate effectively with the wider team, families and allied health professionals to ensure quality support.

What we're looking for:

  • Experience working in a Supported Independent Living (SIL) environment.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting participants with complex behaviours.
  • Experience implementing Behaviour Support Plans and using positive behaviour support strategies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience completing high-quality documentation, including progress notes, incident reports and daily records.
  • Competent computer skills, including experience using Microsoft Word, Microsoft Teams and electronic care management systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check, First Aid and CPR Certificate, a current Driver's Licence and Working with Children Check (where applicable).
