Dispute Resolution Officer (multiple)
- Salary: $100,894 - $114,476 (Plus Superannuation)
- Fixed term roles until 31 December 2026 and 30 June 2027
- Usual hours of work: Full time (flexibility may be available)
- Usual work location: 121 Exhibition Street, Melbourne CBD (flexibility may be available)
The Role
Working within the award-winning Dispute Resolution Team at the Victorian Small Business Commission (VSBC), this unique role helps prevent and resolve disputes involving small businesses through Alternative Dispute Resolution.
Main accountabilities:
- Undertakes advanced case management, which may include cross agency collaboration
- Undertakes complex or technical investigations and makes recommendations for action
- Conveys specialist concepts and policies to clients, staff and stakeholders
- Prepares reports, briefs and correspondence on complex issues that impact at program or organisational level
The Team
The position of Dispute Resolution Officer forms a part of the Dispute Resolution Services branch within the Victorian Small Business Commission.
The VSBC is an independent statutory authority established in 2003 to enhance fairness and competitiveness for small businesses across Victoria. The VSBC provides low-cost, timely, dispute resolution and practical guidance on their rights and obligations. It resolves commercial disputes, including retail tenancy and late payment matters, and promotes fair dealing through advocacy, education and engagement with government and industry. The VSBC also advocates on behalf of small businesses and covers disputes in a range of areas.
About You

- Interpersonal Skills: Sees things from another's point of view and confirms understanding; Tailors communications according to audience and/or audience preference.
- Critical Thinking and Problem Solving: Resolves issues through deep understanding/interpretation of existing guidelines. Where guidelines aren't available, analyses ideas available and takes action including in consultation with others to resolve problems.
- Working Collaboratively: Builds a supportive and cooperative team environment; Engages other teams to share information in order to understand or respond to issues; Supports others in challenging situations.
