Full job description
Dr Tranter Aesthetics | Byron Bay
Part-time | 2 days per week | Training, mentorship & career development
Develop your career in aesthetic medicine
Dr Tranter Aesthetics is looking for a doctor to join our established, doctor-led aesthetic clinic in Byron Bay.
We are looking for someone who has a genuine interest in aesthetic medicine and wants to develop a meaningful, long-term career within the field.
You may be considering aesthetic medicine for the first time, have some early experience, or already be practising and looking for an environment where you can further develop your skills.
For doctors new to aesthetics, we offer a structured pathway into aesthetic medicine with formal training, hands-on clinical education and close mentorship. For those with existing experience, training and development will be tailored to your current skill level and areas of interest.
Above all, we are looking for the right doctor: someone clinically strong, thoughtful and motivated to become an excellent aesthetic physician.
The role
You will work closely with our Medical Director, Dr Sarah Tranter, with ongoing training and mentorship tailored to your experience.
Your clinical development may include:
- Facial assessment, anatomy and aesthetic consultation
- Comprehensive treatment planning
- Anti-wrinkle treatments and dermal fillers
- Biostimulatory and regenerative treatments
- Skin health and ageing
- Advanced energy-based treatments
- Patient selection and clinical decision-making
- Complication prevention, recognition and management
- Developing a considered, natural approach to facial rejuvenation
Our focus extends beyond teaching individual procedures. We want our doctors to develop excellent aesthetic judgement — understanding when to treat, when not to treat and how to create thoughtful, long-term treatment plans for their patients.
Training & mentorship
Your training pathway will be tailored to your starting experience.
For doctors entering aesthetic medicine, we will fund an appropriate introductory aesthetic medicine course, followed by a structured period of supported clinical training within the clinic.
You will work directly alongside Dr Tranter through observation, case discussion, supervised consultations and treatments, with your clinical scope progressively expanding as your skills and confidence develop.
If you already have aesthetic experience, we will build on your existing skills, with opportunities for further mentorship, advanced training and exposure to a broader range of treatment modalities.
During the initial development period, the emphasis is firmly on clinical education, confidence and becoming an excellent aesthetic practitioner, rather than pressure to immediately meet commercial targets.
As you become established, you will progressively take ownership of your own consultations, treatment plans and patient relationships while continuing to have access to clinical support and mentorship.
Long-term opportunity
We are looking for someone who wants to become a long-term part of the clinic and grow with us.
As your experience develops, there will be opportunities for:
- Advanced aesthetic medicine training
- Development of particular areas of clinical interest
- Broader experience across injectables, regenerative medicine, skin and energy-based treatments
- Increasing clinical autonomy and responsibility
- Performance-based remuneration as you become established
- Career progression as the clinic continues to grow
Remuneration will be competitive and structured to recognise your existing experience, clinical development and contribution to the clinic.
Who we're looking for
You may currently work in general practice, emergency medicine, hospital medicine, surgery or another area of clinical practice.
Previous aesthetic medicine experience is welcome but not essential.
We are particularly interested in someone who:
- Holds current AHPRA medical registration
- Has strong clinical judgement and patient communication skills
- Has a genuine interest in aesthetic medicine, skin health and ageing
- Is thoughtful, meticulous and clinically responsible
- Values subtle, natural and considered results
- Wants to develop strong assessment and treatment-planning skills rather than simply learn individual procedures
- Enjoys building long-term relationships with patients
- Values ongoing learning, mentorship and professional development
- Is interested in growing with an established doctor-led aesthetic clinic
- Can commit consistently to approximately 2 days per week
About Dr Tranter Aesthetics
Dr Tranter Aesthetics is an established doctor-led aesthetic clinic in Byron Bay.
Our approach combines medical expertise, aesthetic judgement and evidence-based treatments to achieve natural, considered results.
We take a comprehensive approach to facial ageing and skin health, combining injectables, regenerative treatments, advanced skin therapies and energy-based technologies to create individualised treatment plans for our patients.
Clinical excellence, patient safety and ongoing education are central to how we practise, and we are committed to creating an environment where our clinicians can continue to learn, develop and build rewarding careers in aesthetic medicine.
Interested?
If you have been considering aesthetic medicine but haven't found the right environment in which to make the transition — or you already have aesthetic experience and are looking for greater mentorship, development and long-term opportunity — we would love to hear from you.
Please apply with your CV and a short introduction telling us about your current medical role, any previous aesthetic experience, what interests you about aesthetic medicine and what you are looking for in your next role.
