St Andrew's Cathedral School is seeking an outstanding pianist and collaborative musician to join its vibrant Music Department as School Accompanist for Term 4, 2026. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to one of Australia's leading school music programmes and work alongside highly engaged students, dedicated music educators and accomplished ensemble directors.

Located in the heart of Sydney's CBD, St Andrew's Cathedral School is an innovative, coeducational Kindergarten to Year 12 school committed to academic excellence, creativity and character development. Music is one of the School's signature strengths, with a programme recognised for its breadth, quality and exceptional levels of student participation. Students are supported through a diverse range of ensembles, individual tuition, scholarship and talent development programmes, large-scale productions, tours and performance opportunities.


About the Role

This temporary full-time position offers a unique opportunity to support students and ensembles across Kindergarten to Year 12 through a diverse range of rehearsals, performances, concerts and special events.


Key responsibilities include:

  • Accompanying students, including Music Scholars, in rehearsals, assessments, examinations, auditions and performances in assemblies, services, concerts, soirées and special events.
  • Accompanying choirs, vocal groups and other ensembles as required.
    Performing the National Anthem, School Hymn and other ceremonial music as required.
  • Scheduling student rehearsals and performances.


About You


The successful applicant will demonstrate:

  • Exceptional piano performance and sight-reading skills, with extensive experience as an accompanist and collaborative musician.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Music Performance.
  • A passion for working with young musicians of varying ages and abilities, through to diploma level.
  • Strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team to support student learning, musical development and performance excellence.
  • Flexibility, initiative and adaptability in a dynamic school environment, ready to contribute positively to the wider life of the Music Department and School community.


Position Details

  • Temporary full-time position
  • Term 4, 2026 only
  • Should be available for rehearsals before and after school, and after-hours events as required
