Playful Pals Montessori is a proposed new Long Day Care service coming soon to Tarneit, currently preparing to open subject to final approvals. Our purpose-built centre has been designed around Montessori principles — prepared, engaging environments, hands-on learning materials, and mixed-age communities that help children grow with independence, curiosity and confidence.

As a new organisation bringing this approach to local families for the first time, we are building an experienced, values-aligned team to deliver it well from day one.

About the role

We're looking for warm, experienced educators to join the founding team at Playful Pals Montessori, a Long Day Care service coming soon to Tarneit built around Montessori principles. As a new organisation opening its first centre, we're building an experienced team from the ground up — a genuine opportunity to help shape our rooms, routines and community from the very start.

We welcome applications for full-time, part-time and casual positions across our age groups: 0–24 months, 25–35 months, and 36 months to preschool age.

What you'll be doing

Plan and deliver engaging, play-based learning experiences using a Montessori-inspired approach
Prepare and maintain Montessori learning environments and materials that encourage independence and hands-on exploration
Build genuine, caring relationships with children and their families
Help set up and organise rooms and materials ahead of opening
Work as part of a small founding team to establish room routines and daily practices
Maintain children's health, safety and wellbeing in line with the National Quality Framework
Contribute to observations, planning documentation and family communication

What we're looking for

Certificate III or Diploma in Early Childhood Education and Care (or actively studying towards)
Experience working in a Montessori and/or kindergarten setting, and genuine interest in the Montessori approach
A warm, patient and genuinely child-focused approach
Sound understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF), the National Quality Standard and relevant regulations
Current Working with Children Check and National Police Check (or willingness to obtain)
Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis Management training (or willingness to obtain)
Willingness to complete the mandatory National Child Safety Training before working directly with children (or evidence of current completion)

Nice to have

Experience helping set up or open a new centre or room
Experience with a childcare management platform such as Xplor or OWNA
