Early Intervention Facilitators (Intake Team) – Making Early Years Count

BUSHkids is a not-for-profit organisation that has been at the heart of transforming lives of regional children across Queensland for over 90 years. Our dedicated teams and volunteers are all driven by a shared vision that all Queensland children should have access to free allied health and early intervention services regardless of where they live.
As part of our continued growth and commitment to supporting regional families, we are seeking to appoint Early Intervention Facilitators to our Rapid Intake and Triage Team. In this office-based role, you will conduct phone-based intake assessment calls to support informed decision making in relation to triage and appropriate service stream allocation for waitlisted families. As an NDIS Partner in the Community, BUSHkids supports early intervention for children aged 0 to 6 years who are showing signs of developmental delay or up to 9 years who have an eligible NDIS diagnosis. You will be provided onboarding and training guided by our ECA Workplace Trainer and Supervisors and supported by our Intake Team Leader. You will be working in a geographically dispersed and experienced intake team of Social Workers, Early Childhood professionals and other Early Intervention Facilitators.
Multiple positions available – Maroochydore, Caloundra and Bundaberg centres offering a full-time or part-time fixed-term contract basis through to 18 December 2026. Part-time availability requires a minimum of 20 hours per week that can be worked across standard business hours in a 5-day fortnight or school hours across 5 days. This role is office-based and does not offer a remote work arrangement.
This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support vulnerable children and families at a critical point in their referral journey, where your contribution will make a meaningful difference for parents and caregivers in gaining clarity and direction in the next step forward in accessing early supports.
About you
This role is ideally suited to someone with experience in intake, triage or first‑point‑of‑contact work with families, particularly in early years, community services or family support settings. You may have worked in early childhood, disability, family support, community services or a similar people‑facing role and are confident having structured conversations with families, gathering key information, identifying immediate needs and guiding families through next steps.
We are looking for someone who brings:
- Prior experience in intake, triage or first‑contact roles, ideally working with children and families
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and trust quickly, ask clear questions, accurately summarise information, and explain systems and next steps
- Professional written communication skills suitable for accurate case notes, and records.
- Experience supporting vulnerable families, with an understanding of the practical and social barriers families may face accessing services
- Confidence working in a high‑volume, fast‑paced environment with competing priorities
- Good judgement, attention to detail, and the ability to follow structured workflows and escalation pathways
- Confidence using Microsoft Office, along with CRM, data management or case management systems, templates and structured tools
- A practical, can‑do attitude, with a genuine interest in supporting children, families and the community
- The ability to work flexibly and adaptively, while maintaining clear boundaries around scope of work

- A commitment to learning and professional development, and willingness to share knowledge and skills with others
- Valid Blue Card and NDIS Worker Screening Clearance (or willingness to obtain prior to commencement)
- Current C Class Driver’s Licence
- Evidence of Hepatitis B vaccination status

- Not-for-profit annual salary packaging up to $15,900 in tax savings per year plus $2,650 meal and entertainment allowance. This represents up to an additional $5,935 in your pay to cover essential living expenses on top of your base salary.
