About the Role
Newington College seeks a qualified and innovative teacher of Business Studies and Economics across Years 7–12. This is a fixed-term position commencing in Term 3, 2026 and concluding at the end of the 2027 school year. Candidates should be confident in teaching senior Business Studies; the ability to teach Economics will be highly regarded. The role will also include junior classes. All staff at the College are expected to contribute to the pastoral care and co-curricular program.

The Department has a strong tradition in the senior years, offering both Business Studies and Economics within the HSC and IB curriculum. The Department also offers a range of elective courses across Stages 4 and 5, including an innovative, school-developed Business course in Stage 4, and Commerce and Cambridge IGCSE Enterprise in Stage 5. The Department also delivers the Business Services VET framework to Years 11 and 12.

About You

  • have appropriate teaching and tertiary qualifications relevant to the position
  • have experienced in HSC Business Studies and/or Economics (Desirable)
  • willingness to teach across stage 4 and 5

  • demonstrate the ability to differentiate instruction and cater for a range of learning abilities and needs
  • have a thorough understanding of the learning process, including the role of assessment and feedback

  • show a genuine appreciation and commitment to pastoral care
