OUR TEAM

Our Above Water Systems team provides engineering & maintenance services to Royal Australian Navy vessels and commercial ships. We’re proud to bolster Australia’s sovereign capability through operational support to our defence partners. With ongoing training programs and a team of over 500, our people have room to grow and develop an impactful career with us.

YOUR ROLE

Located in Sydney at Woolloomooloo's Garden Island, on Gadigal land your role will be to commence and complete a traineeship in an Electrical/Electronic qualification. You will learn to perform a range of electrical work including:

• Interpret and work from drawings, diagrams, standards, codes and specifications

• Install, remove, repair, and replace electrical components, wiring and systems

• Diagnose and resolve faults across a range of electrical equipment and systems onboard vessels

• Maintain compliance with workplace safety and electrical standards

YOUR EXPERIENCE

As a trainee, we'll expect you to bring the following experience, skills and behaviours:

• Genuine interest in gaining a qualification

• Sound literacy, numeracy and basic computer skills

• Strong communication skills and ability to work within a team environment

• Comfortable Working at Heights and in Confined Spaces

• Desirable to have a Certification in Electronics, or related field, an Electrical Qualified Supervisor License and/or General Construction Induction card (White Card)

AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY

A Defence security clearance NV1 is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.

Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
