We are seeking an energetic and dedicated Lifeguard to join our dynamic Aquatics teams at CISAC and ANU. In this vital role, you will play a key part in creating a safe, enjoyable, and welcoming environment for all members and guests. You’ll use your keen observation skills and sound judgment to ensure the safety and wellbeing of patrons, actively supervise aquatic areas, and respond confidently to any incidents or emergencies. Beyond vigilance, you’ll bring a friendly, professional approach to customer service, engaging with members to enhance their experience and support a positive community atmosphere. With a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and excellence, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the high standards of two of Canberra’s leading aquatic and fitness facilities.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

We are looking for someone with:

Qualifications & Certifications

• Current Pool Lifeguard Certificate
• Current Resuscitation (CPR) and Provide First Aid HLTAID011
• A valid Working with Children or Working with Vulnerable People Check is required

Skills & Experience:

• Demonstrated confidence and professionalism when interacting with members and colleagues
• Exceptional customer service skills and a commitment to member satisfaction
• Previous experience in lifeguard duties or aquatic facility operations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively within a diverse team environment
• Sound knowledge of exercise principles, aquatic safety, and relevant technologies
• Ability to read, understand, and consistently follow and promote safety procedures
• Proven ability to operate computers and related systems with confidence

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise aquatic areas to ensure the safety and wellbeing of all patrons.
• Maintain constant vigilance and respond swiftly to emergencies or incidents.
• Perform lifesaving duties and provide first aid when required.
• Enforce pool safety rules and promote a positive, enjoyable environment.
• Deliver outstanding customer service and assist members with enquiries.
• Support general facility operations, including cleanliness and maintenance.
• Work collaboratively with the Aquatics team to uphold high safety and service standards.
