About the role
This new role is for someone who is motivated by living and working with strong values, committed to impact and serving people in communities. This role reports to the Chief Advisor and works closely with its peers in the Strategic Engagement Team and across the organisation. Working as part of the Strategic Engagement team, bringing people, ideas, priorities and Life Without Barriers digital ecosystem together to support shared goals and organisation-wide impact. This position leads the organisation’s digital presence as a core engagement, influence, and storytelling platform that strengthens Life Without Barriers service offerings, deepens community engagement and supports a clear policy agenda to build public trust. This is a permanent full-time opportunity that can be located anywhere on the East Coast. There is flexibility to work from home and from one of our local offices.
Key responsibilities
- Bring a strategic, organisation-wide lens to digital engagement, connecting platforms, content, advocacy, brand and audience insights to support LWB’s broader goals.
- Identify emerging digital trends, risks and opportunities, translating them into practical strategies that strengthen engagement, influence and long-term organisational impact.
- Proven ability to leverage digital channels, including social media, to elevate social issues, grow public engagement and mobilise communities around shared advocacy goals.
- Ownership of LWB’s digital engagement strategy, positioning digital platforms as critical drivers of organisational influence and engagement.
- Evolve the organisation’s digital engagement roadmap.
- Lead organisational expertise on digital engagement, advising senior leaders on digital risks, opportunities, innovation, and performance.
- Lead digital governance, including standards for accessibility, inclusion, safety, brand integrity, and ethical storytelling.
- Hold end-to-end accountability for LWB’s website, its content, CMS platform, and associated digital infrastructure.
- Lead sophisticated digital analytics and reporting frameworks to measure engagement, reach, influence, and impact.
- Build strong, trusted partnerships across the organisation to lift digital capability and confidence.
- Set and lead the organisation-wide social media strategy, ensuring channels are purposeful, well-governed, and aligned with storytelling and advocacy goals.
- Work in close partnership with the Policy Lead to develop strategies to leverage LWB’s digital assets for advocacy and policy reform
Skills & Experience
- Qualifications in communications, digital or social media, and/or significant experience specialising in digital engagement, including social media. Significant senior-level experience leading digital engagement, digital platforms, and content strategy in complex and values-driven organisations.
- Demonstrated experience owning and governing organisational websites, CMS platforms, and social media ecosystems.
- Demonstrated experience in story telling using digital means to reach a wide range of audiences.
- Advanced understanding of digital governance, accessibility standards, analytics, SEO, and emerging digital trends.
- Strong strategic judgement with the ability to operate at organisational and system levels.
- Demonstrated ability to manage risk, reputation, and ethical considerations in digital environments.
- The ability to work collaboratively and develop networks with a range of stakeholders including peers in an integrated team along with internal and external stakeholders.
