Make a real difference in your community
WEA Co — The Community College is seeking an experienced Administration Officer to join our team on a part-time, fixed-term 6-month parental leave basis, with the possibility of extension. This is a genuine opportunity to bring your administrative expertise to an organisation that has been connecting people with learning since 1913 — and continues to change lives across the Illawarra, Shoalhaven and Southern Highlands every day.
About the role
Based at our Wollongong office, with occasional travel across the region, you will support the day-to-day administration of The Community College during parental leave cover. Working within a warm, collaborative team, you will be the backbone of our operations — providing high-quality customer service, managing enrolment and administrative processes, and helping ensure our learners have a seamless, positive experience.
Location: Wollongong, NSW (50–58 Auburn Street)
Contract: Fixed Term – 6-month Parental Leave Cover, with possibility of extension
Hours: Part-Time, 20 hours per week
Salary: $60,236 – $64,968 p.a. pro rata + Super (WEA Illawarra Enterprise Agreement 2019)
Classification: Schedule B: Level 3 - 4 depending on the scope of administrative responsibilities, level of autonomy, and application of knowledge and judgement within the role.
Commencing: Early July 2026
What your days will look like
- Being a welcoming, professional first point of contact for students and community members — by phone, email and in person
- Managing student enrolments, enquiries, and supporting data entry across organisational systems
- Maintaining accurate, compliant student records and supporting RTO administrative processes
- Applying sound judgement to prioritise tasks and manage competing demands in a dynamic environment
- Using Microsoft Office and student/database management systems to keep operations running smoothly
- Following and upholding organisational policies, procedures and regulatory requirements, including confidentiality obligations
- Contributing to a safe, inclusive and welcoming environment for all learners and stakeholders
- Collaborating with team members to support effective service delivery across The Community College
Who We're Looking For
You don't need to have worked in a community college before. What matters is solid administration experience, sound judgement, and a genuine commitment to working with people from all walks of life. If you're someone who takes pride in getting the details right, stays calm when things get busy, and genuinely cares about the experience of the people you're serving — you'll fit right in here.
What you'll bring
- Proven experience in customer service, data entry and coordination of administrative processes
- Strong communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of people
- Great organisational skills and the ability to juggle competing priorities and deadlines
- Sharp attention to detail and a commitment to accurate, compliant record-keeping
- Confidence with Microsoft Office and database or student management systems
- The ability to work independently, using good judgement when it counts
- A genuine commitment to inclusive practice and a welcoming environment for learners
- Eligibility to work in Australia and willingness to obtain a Working with Children Check and National Police Check
What You'll Gain
- A part-time role with genuine flexibility and a supportive, values-aligned team
- Experience within a respected registered training organisation with real community impact
- Exposure to RTO administration, compliance and student services across a diverse community
- Access to Fitness Passport — supporting your health and wellbeing
- Salary packaging options to maximise your take-home pay
- A team that celebrates your contributions
- Remuneration under the WEA Illawarra Enterprise Agreement 2019

Company Overview
WEA Co is a not-for-profit helping people of all ages access learning, build skills, and connect. In 1913, education was out of reach for many working adults in the Illawarra. WEA Co began to change that, offering workers’ education classes that built knowledge, skills, and a sense of possibility. It was the start of our mission to make learning accessible to everyone, no matter their circumstances. As our community changed, so did the needs of adult learners. Many people sought skills to adapt to new industries, grow in their careers, or connect socially. The Community College evolved to meet those needs, providing affordable, inclusive courses in workplace skills, digital literacy, and creative learning. For decades, it has been a place where adults can gain confidence, independence, and a stronger connection to their community. Some young people in our region find that mainstream schooling does not work for them, often because of life circumstances beyond their control. Novo Education was created to give these students in Years 9–12 a safe, understanding place to re-engage with learning. Small classes, one-on-one mentoring, and a trauma-informed approach help them rebuild confidence, set goals, and take steps toward a future they can see for themselves.
