Techist is seeking a motivated IT Trainee / Entry Level IT Technician to join our growing team.
This role is ideal for someone looking to start a career in Information Technology while gaining hands-on experience in desktop support, networking, and field services.
You will work alongside experienced IT professionals supporting NSW Public Schools and small businesses, learning real-world skills while completing an IT traineeship.
This is a client-facing role where you will assist with troubleshooting computers, maintaining IT equipment, and supporting networks across multiple environments.

About The Role
This is an Entry Level IT Support / Field Services Technician role where you will gain experience working across different client environments including schools and business offices.
The role involves onsite technical support, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and assisting with IT installations and upgrades.
You will regularly interact with principals, teachers, administrators and business leaders, so strong communication and professionalism are essential.
Daily travel between client sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
As an IT Trainee / Junior IT Technician, your responsibilities will include:
- Providing onsite IT support to clients
- Troubleshooting desktop computers, laptops and printers
- Diagnosing and resolving hardware and software issues
- Supporting network infrastructure including routers and switches
- Performing hardware upgrades and equipment installations
- Maintaining IT asset registers and equipment tracking
- Logging completed work and updating support tickets
- Liaising with vendors and suppliers to report faults and organise repairs
- Assisting with IT deployments and installations
Additional operational tasks may include:
- Equipment pickups and deliveries
- Transporting hardware between locations
- Assisting with equipment setup and installations
Skills & Experience
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong interest in Information Technology
- Is reliable and punctual
- Has good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
- Demonstrates a positive can-do attitude
- Communicates clearly with both technical and non-technical users
- Has strong organisational and time management skills
- Can work both independently and within a team
Basic knowledge in the following areas will be beneficial:
- Computer hardware and troubleshooting
- Networking fundamentals (routers, switches, wired and wireless networks)
- Microsoft Windows operating systems
- Microsoft Office applications
Previous IT support experience or customer service experience will be highly regarded but is not required.
Essential Requirements
- Must not have completed a Certificate IV or higher in IT (traineeship eligibility)
- Current driver's licence and reliable vehicle required
- Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident
- Strong English communication skills
- Ability to work in client-facing environments
The successful applicant will be required to obtain a Working With Children Check (approximately $80).
