Southern City Bathroom Renovations
Southern City Bathroom Renovations provides a complete renovation service from start to finish, delivering quality workmanship throughout every stage of the process. We are a long-established family-owned company located in Bunbury Western Australia.
We are seeking a Junior Software Developer to join our team in a full-time, permanent position. This is a hands-on development role offering the opportunity to build practical software development experience while contributing to the development of our custom internal business management software.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will work closely with management and staff to understand business requirements and develop practical software solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce administration and support our day-to-day activities.
This position would suit a recent graduate, early-career developer or someone with up to two years of relevant software development experience who is looking to develop their skills in a practical business environment.
About the Role
As our Junior Software Developer, you will assist with the ongoing development, testing and maintenance of software used across the business. You will gain exposure to different areas of software development while working directly with the people who use the applications every day.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Developing, testing, maintaining and enhancing custom business software applications.
- Writing, modifying, testing and debugging application code.
- Assisting with analysing user requirements and developing practical software solutions.
- Developing and maintaining software modules supporting employee attendance, work allocation, project documentation, safety reporting, material requests, client variations and expense processing.
- Investigating software issues, resolving defects and implementing updates.
- Working with application databases and software integrations.
- Preparing and maintaining technical documentation.
- Liaising with users to understand how the software is being used and identify opportunities for improvement.
- Implementing approved software improvements and new functionality.
- Participating in software testing and deployment activities.
About You
We are looking for someone who has a strong interest in software development, enjoys solving problems and wants to build their experience developing real-world business applications.
You may be a recent university or TAFE graduate, a self-taught developer with relevant project experience, or an early-career developer looking for your next opportunity.
Ideally, you will have:
- A qualification in software development, computer science, information technology or a related field, or equivalent practical development experience.
- Up to approximately two years of software development experience. Recent graduates are encouraged to apply.
- An understanding of software development principles and practices.
- Some experience developing web-based or business applications through employment, study or personal projects.
- An understanding of databases and SQL.
- Basic software testing and debugging skills.
- Good analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Good communication skills and a willingness to work directly with users and management.
- A willingness to learn and develop your technical skills.
- An organised and practical approach to your work.
Position Scope
This position is focused on the development and ongoing improvement of our internal business management software.
You will work under the direction of the Managing Director and collaborate with employees who use the software as part of their day-to-day work.
As a junior developer, you will be given the opportunity to build your technical knowledge and gain practical experience while progressively taking greater responsibility for software development and improvement activities.
The position does not include responsibility for network administration, hardware support, general IT support or technology strategy.
What Success Looks Like
In this role, your work will contribute to:
- Reliable, maintainable and effective business software.
- Improved operational efficiency across the business.
- Reduced manual administration and duplicated processes.
- Better communication and information flow between office and field staff.
- Continuous improvement of our internal software applications.
- Your ongoing development into a capable and independent software developer.
Salary
The position offers a starting salary from $79,500 per annum plus superannuation, dependent on skills and experience.
Apply
If you are starting or building your career in software development and would like a practical role where you can work on real business applications and see the direct impact of what you develop, we would like to hear from you.
Please submit your resume along with a brief summary of your software development experience, studies or relevant projects.
Pay: From $79,500.00 per year
Work Location: In person
