Full job description
CPB Contractors is Australia’s leading contractor and the largest infrastructure construction company in our region. Part of the CIMIC Group, we are proud to be constructing Australia’s future and do so collaboratively with our partners and clients. We hire for careers, not project life. CPB Contractors has more than 50 major infrastructure projects in delivery, across all key sectors of the construction industry, including roads and bridges, rail, tunnelling, defence, airports, buildings and resources, providing you with career opportunities for years to come.
The Project
The Tram to Springvale Alliance (TSA) comprising CPB Contractors, BMD Constructions and Arup has been selected to deliver the Eastern Freeway Upgrades between Tram and Springvale roads. The major upgrade includes new express lanes, upgraded noise walls and revitalised sections of the Koonung Creek Linear Park.
The Project is being delivered under an Alliance Contract with Victorian Infrastructure Delivery Authority (VIDA) as the Project Owner and TSA (CPB, BMD and Arup) as the Non-owner Participants (NOPs). Together they form the Alliance working as one to deliver this critical infrastructure project.
As a key component of the North East Link Program (NELP), this project will provide a safer, more efficient freeway connection for over 135,000 vehicles daily, removing 15,000 trucks from local roads, and reduce traffic across on the arterial road network crossing the Yarra River by 50,000 vehicles per day.
We’re completing the link together and bringing it home for our community.

- Support the practical implementation of environmental controls such as erosion and sedimentation measures, incident response (including spills), and waste tracking
- Help establish and maintain project-specific environmental management systems, procedures, and tools to ensure compliance with environmental plans
- Assist with project inductions and environmental management system training sessions
- Learn and stay informed about relevant legislation, best practices, and tools to support contemporary environmental management
Our minimum requirements for this role are:
- Currently undertaking a bachelor’s degree in environmental management, Environmental Engineering, or a related discipline
- Commitment to developing knowledge of environmental compliance, sustainability practices, and project environmental requirements
-
Interest in gaining exposure to environmental practices within the construction or infrastructure industry
-
Willingness to learn and apply environmental compliance requirements and sustainability principles
-
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow processes accurately
-
Good communication and teamwork skills with a proactive attitude toward learning

CPB Contractors is proud to hold the Workplace Gender Equality Agency (WGEA) Citation - Employer of Choice for Gender Equality.
We’re always looking for ways to make CPB Contractors a more rewarding place to work and offer a unique set of benefits, including:
- A rewarding career where we support your development, training and promote from within.
- Opportunities across all construction sectors so that there is always an opportunity suitable for the next stage in your career.
- Competitive remuneration and excellent benefits including a health and wellbeing program, discount portal and company-funded salary continuance insurance.
