Job description

We're looking for an experienced and enthusiastic environmental data professional to join our Environmental Sustainability team.

This role supports the Department of Education's work to understand and manage data and information related to the department's environmental impacts and risks.

This is a full-time position, but applications for part-time or job-share arrangements will also be considered.

About the role

The Environmental Data Officer:

  • collects, monitors, analyses and reports on environmental data and information related to the department's environmental impacts, including data related to corporate, school and early childhood education operations
  • uses data to inform the development and evaluation of evidence-based policies and actions that reduce the department's environmental impacts and risks
  • clearly presents and communicates data and information to a range of audiences.

About you

As our ideal candidate, you will:

  • have a relevant tertiary qualification in a field related to data analytics or environmental science
  • have professional experience in collecting and analysing environmental data and climate risk
  • enjoy collaborating with others and have excellent stakeholder and interpersonal skills
  • demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills
  • be proactive and seek to develop creative and evidence-based solutions to complex problems.
