Role

As an Operations Manager, you'll be a key partner to the Australia leadership team, driving the strategic planning, operational rigor, and execution that enables the business to scale. This role sits at the center of the organization, translating priorities into action across every function.

  • Design, plan, execute, and assess key strategic initiatives, developing project frameworks, defining success metrics, coordinating cross-functional stakeholders, managing timelines and resources, and delivering actionable insights and recommendations to drive continuous improvement and organizational impact.

  • Identify bottlenecks and operational challenges across the business and implement scalable process, technology, and AI solutions that improve execution and business outcomes.

  • Develop and maintain reporting, dashboards, and operational reviews that drive accountability and informed decision-making across the organization.

  • Support the end-to-end event planning and logistics for internal and external events, including meetings, offsites, conferences, community events, and team gatherings

  • Support day-to-day operational needs that enable leaders and teams to perform at their best.

We offer flexibility to work from home or from one of our global office hubs, and we value in-person time for planning, problem-solving, and connection. Team members in this role must live within commuting distance of our Sydney, Australia hub.

You

People who do well at Whatnot tend to be comfortable figuring things out as they go, biased toward action, and genuinely curious about what they're building. They care more about outcomes than credit and stay close to the product and the people using it.

As our next Operations Manager, you should have 5+ years of experience in business operations, strategy, or chief of staff roles, ideally in a high-growth tech or marketplace environment, plus:

  • Strong strategic and analytical thinking: you can move from ambiguous problem to structured plan, and you know how to build the business case behind a recommendation.

  • Exceptional execution and project management: you drive complex, cross-functional initiatives to completion without losing stakeholders along the way.

  • Operational builder mindset: you don't just identify gaps, you design scalable systems, playbooks, and processes to close them.

  • Data and AI fluency: you're fluent in data - comfortable pulling, interrogating, and drawing conclusions from it yourself rather than waiting on someone else - and you treat AI tools as a core part of how you work, using them to streamline the way you work and building tools that help your team succeed.

  • Discretion and sound judgment: you handle sensitive information with professionalism and know when to escalate versus act independently.

EOE

Whatnot is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. We value diversity, and we do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, color, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, age, marital status, veteran status, parental status, disability status, or any other status protected by local law. We believe that our work is better and our company culture is improved when we encourage, support, and respect the different skills and experiences represented within our workforce.
