About the role and team
We have an exciting opportunity for a Learning & Development Manager within our People & Culture Team. This role leads the firm’s learning approach (formal and informal) and ensures learning investments are aligned to priority capabilities, including building capability in technology, AI-enabled ways of working, and future skills required by the firm and our people. The role sets learning priorities, oversees high-quality delivery and technology upskilling, and ensures learning is embedded into day-to-day work through the right blend of programs, pathways, tools and ways of learning.
This role is a critical part of the firm’s strategic focus on capability uplift over the coming years. It offers a unique opportunity to rethink how learning is designed, delivered and experienced across the business: moving beyond traditional approaches to create innovative, future-focused learning solutions.
You will be responsible for:
Learning strategy
- Lead the development and delivery of the firm’s learning approach, ensuring it is aligned to firm strategy and priority capabilities.
- Partner closely with firm stakeholders to translate capability needs into clear learning priorities.
- Shape a coherent, firm-wide approach to learning, ensuring consistency across practice groups, Corporate Services and offices.
Learning design and delivery
- Oversee the design and delivery of capability uplift across cohorts and levels, including induction, core programs and structured development pathways.
- Ensure learning solutions move beyond standalone programs to integrated journeys aligned to roles, career stages and capability expectations.
- Oversee delivery across a mix of modalities (face-to-face, digital, blended), including practical tools, job aids and facilitation resources.
- Ensure strong alignment between learning solutions and in-role performance, with a focus on embedding learning into day-to-day work.
- Ensure learning supports behaviour change and adoption of new tools, systems and ways of working.
- Work closely with Technology, Client Solutions and OD to ensure learning is integrated into broader transformation initiatives.
Ways of learning (informal and in-role development)
- Support and embed informal learning mechanisms alongside formal programs (e.g. coaching frameworks, mentoring/mentor connect, on-the-job development, peer learning).
- Ensure a balanced “ways of learning” approach that builds capability through experience, not just content.
Learning ecosystem and experience
- Oversee the firm’s learning ecosystem, including the Learning Hub/LMS, intranet (Hallway), content, communications and user experience (high quality, current and easy to access).
- Drive continuous improvement of learning channels and platforms to support engagement and uptake.
CPD & learning lifecycle management
- Oversee CPD compliance and ensures alignment between mandatory requirements and broader capability priorities.
- Ensure strong learning lifecycle management
Evaluation and impact
- Implement evaluation approaches that measure the impact of learning beyond completion
- Use data and insights to continuously improve learning effectiveness and prioritisation.
- Ensure learning investment is directed to areas of greatest firm impact.
Leadership and team management
- Lead and develop the Learning & Development team, setting clear priorities, ways of working and standards.
- Manage relationships with external providers and partners to deliver learning effectively and within budget.
- Build capability across the team in modern learning approaches, digital learning and capability development.
- Manage the L&D budget and program spending to ensure costs are managed.
About you
You will ideally have the following skills and experience:
- proven experience leading learning strategy and delivery in a professional services or similar environment;
- this is not a traditional L&D role. We are seeking a creative and strategic thinker who is excited by the opportunity to innovate, experiment and shape the future of learning within the firm;
- strong capability in learning needs analysis, journey design and multi-modal learning delivery (digital, blended and facilitated);
- experience building informal learning mechanisms (coaching, mentoring, on-the-job development) and embedding learning in the flow of work;
- strong stakeholder partnership and consulting skills, including ability to build strong relationships and have influence and impact over decisions;
- confident and competent facilitator;
- strong operational management and deliver of learning, including vendor management capability;
- comfort operating in ambiguity and translating strategic intent into practical learning solutions; and
- interest in, or experience with, building capability in technology and AI-enabled ways of working, and translating emerging trends into practical learning solutions.
