    The successful candidate will play an integral role in the following: Represent clients, including preparing matters, instructing counsel and personally appearing as an advocate in family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and related matters. Provide duty lawyer services, legal information, advice and referrals. This includes the provision of duty lawyer services in the Cairns Integrated Domestic and Family Violence (DFV) court If a member of the Independent Children's Lawyer and Separate Representative panels, you may act in the child's best interest in family law and child protection matters. Help and guide team members and other Legal Aid Queensland staff with enquiries about family law and related matters. Deliver outcomes through self-management and with minimal supervision and guidance from senior legal practitioners as required. Collaborate on submissions which support Legal Aid Queensland's contributions to policy, procedure, law reform and legal service delivery initiatives. Help maintain networks with relevant external stakeholders and support the development and delivery of legal training and information sessions. Contribute to team planning and suggest improvements to work practices. Knowledge, Skills & Experience You have knowledge and experience in independently preparing, representing and advocating in family law, domestic and family violence, child protection and related matters. You have knowledge of the practice and procedure of the relevant areas of law and ethical standards. You communicate in a clear, concise and articulate manner and engage effectively with stakeholders including clients with complex needs using the principles of trauma informed practice.
