About Ashri Legal

Ashri Legal is a fast growing Brisbane family law firm providing compassionate, practical and strategic legal support to individuals and families.

Led by Principal Solicitor Ashika Jacques, our firm was built on the belief that clients should be treated as people, not simply as cases. We have two offices located in Brisbane and Eight-Mile Plains and offer flexible working arrangements.

We practice in the areas of Family Law, Domestic Violence and Child Protection and will be expanding into other areas in the near future.

The opportunity

We are looking for a compassionate and motivated Lawyer to join our growing team.

This role is full-time, however, we will consider part-time options. Experience in Family Law is preferred and experience in other areas of law is highly desirable but not essential. You much hold a practicing certificate or be eligible to obtain one.

We offer attractive salary incentives which can be negotiated based on experience and skills.

Key responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with parenting, property settlement, divorce, domestic violence and child protection matters.
  • Listening carefully to clients and helping them feel heard, respected and supported
  • Communicating sensitive legal information clearly and compassionately.
  • Conducting legal research and preparing written advice
  • Drafting correspondence, affidavits, court documents, consent orders and other legal documents
  • Assisting with disclosure, evidence preparation and court filing
  • Communicating professionally with clients, opposing solicitors, barristers, experts and court staff
  • Attending client conferences, mediations, mentions and court hearings
  • Managing deadlines and maintaining accurate electronic files
  • Supporting the Principal Solicitor with complex and sensitive matters
  • Managing your own matters under appropriate supervision as your experience develops
  • Maintaining professional boundaries while responding sensitively to clients in distress
  • Complying with all professional, ethical and confidentiality obligations

About you

We are looking for someone who genuinely cares about people and outcomes and wants to grow with us.

You should have:

  • Admission, or eligibility for admission, as a solicitor in Queensland
  • Approximately one to three years of post-admission experience, preferably in family law.
  • A compassionate, patient and non-judgmental approach.
  • The emotional maturity to assist clients experiencing distress, uncertainty or conflict.
  • Strong legal research, drafting and communication skills and the ability to follow instructions.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A proactive attitude and willingness to learn.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing to a supportive team.
  • Professionalism honesty and respect toward all client, co-workers and stakeholders.
  • Experience in family law will be highly regarded. However, applications may also be considered from junior lawyers with relevant transferable experience, strong interpersonal skills and a genuine commitment to compassionate family law practice.
