Your Opportunity
As our Community Services Consultant, you will be the first point of contact for all current and potential carers in the Carer Gateway Program at The Benevolent Society. You will be a part of our National Support Centre which assess and directs incoming calls and email enquiries to our organisation to help connect clients to much needed services.
As you are the voice of our organisation, we are looking for a compassionate person with a genuine desire to help others who can turn a challenging interaction with a confused or frustrated caller into a great experience where the client instantly feels heard and understood.
How You Will Contribute
- Be the first point of contact for carers, providing a warm, empathetic and professional experience that recognises the unique challenges of caring.
- Assess eligibility, suitability and support needs, ensuring carers are connected with the most appropriate Carer Gateway services and supports.
- Complete intake, assessment and referral effectively while maintaining privacy, compliance and quality standards.
- Build rapport quickly with carers from diverse backgrounds, using active listening and person-centred approaches to understand their goals, strengths and support needs.

Your Skills and Experience
We want you to be successful in your new role! This means you'll have experience in the community services sector and:
- Certificate III or IV or a Diploma In aged care, community care, disability services, community services or related area such as psychology/counselling/mental health or social work will be highly advantageous
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Knowledge of the sector and Australian Government funding bodies (NDIS, My Aged Care, child & family services) will be an advantage
- Customer service experience, phone-based experience, or experience working call centers is preferable
- High level of emotional regulation and agility, compassion and a commitment to diversity and inclusion
- Technologically savvy with the ability to navigate across multiple computer systems, and multitask effectively in high stress situations
