Inventia Genetic Technologies Pty Ltd (IGT) is looking for a trainee Bovine IVF Field Laboratory Assistant.

The role will be ideal for someone with a knowledge of or passion for Bovine reproduction. The candidate will be working closely with highly experienced field technicians and will gain an understanding of OPU (Ovum Pick Up) process and technique used by the employer.

On a day-to-day basis, the successful candidate will be required to travel with various field technical teams to farm locations around Australia to carry out technical services in relation to In Vitro Fertilization programs in cattle.


Inventia Genetic Technologies Pty Limited (IGT) is a biotechnology company based in Newmarket, Brisbane, which brings to Australia the most advanced and efficient bovine breeding technology in the world, using In Vitro Fertilisation (IVF).


  • Prepare laboratory equipment to be used in the process of searching Oocytes collected through OPU (Ovum Pick Up).
  • Rinse, search and accurately assessment of Oocytes according to laboratory standards.
  • Report any anomalies detected during the collections.
  • Deliver oocytes to the laboratory.
  • Check incubators and all field equipment.
  • Calibrate all field equipment.


  • Experience with advanced reproductive technologies (embryo transfer, in vivo flushing, or IVF) preferred;
  • Qualification in animal reproduction, animal science or biology.
  • Knowledge of the cattle industry is preferred.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment
  • Strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Ability to work under varied conditions (outdoors)
  • Flexible working hours, potential for long days (over 8 hours) and early morning start times.
  • Ability to perform tasks efficiently in outlined time frames
  • Works effectively in a team as well as alone (ability to work independently)
  • Takes initiative and is a self-starter
  • Ability to communicate with team members honestly, effectively and with empathy

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $50,000.00 per year
