About the role:
Council is seeking an experienced Festivals and Major Events Officer who will be responsible for assisting with the successful planning and delivery of Council-run festivals and major events in addition to supporting a range of external events that position Frankston as an arts, culture, and event destination.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Assisting with planning and delivery requirements of Council run festivals and major events, with a strong focus on project management.
- Providing guidance and advice to external event organisers looking to run their events in Frankston City.
- Providing administration and marketing support to the broader team.
- Stakeholder engagement and relationship management across internal and external teams, contractors, suppliers, and contracted staff.
This role includes out of hours work, including weekends in the delivery of Council-run events which will paid as time in lieu.
About you:
- Demonstrated experience in event management and delivery, particularly in an outdoor events environment.
- Demonstrated experience in delivering creative and innovative event solutions, in the context of growing and elevating festivals and major events.
- Demonstrated experience in contractor/relationship management, with an ability to build and maintain effective relationships.
- Demonstrated ability to work efficiently as a member of a team and provide excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience in the areas of risk management and site safety in a festival and major event context.
- Demonstrated project management and administration skills.
- High level of effective time management skills, and the ability to work under pressure including the ability to prioritise whilst working on concurrent projects with successful outcomes.
- Well-developed verbal and written communication skills with ability to communicate and relate well with diverse community groups, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in the use of various Microsoft Office programs, and financial systems.
- Flexibility to work overtime on weekends and public holidays, as required to deliver Council’s Major Events.
- You enjoy a fast-paced environment and contributing to all facets of event planning and delivery including the demands required on event days.
- Hold a current driver’s license.

This position is a Band 5A currently remunerated at $82,567.33 per annum, plus superannuation. Time in lieu will also be paid, as required for event days.
