Full job description

Finance & Administration | Warrigal

Financial Services Accounting Officer | Temporary

We're seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Financial Services Accounting Officer to join our high-performing team. In this role, you'll be responsible for processing Warrigal’s funding billing reconciliation for our residential aged care homes—reviewing and identifying discrepancies of funding amounts, adjusting records and following up with families as well as collaborating with external agencies to ensure financial sustainability and compliance. If you’re passionate about contributing to a positive workplace culture while making a real impact on organisational outcomes through effective debt management, we want to hear from you.

The opportunity

You will take on a key role as Financial Services Accounting Officer, collaborating with teams across Warrigal as well as external partners, including government agencies, to ensure funding amounts are correctly processed and reconciled in line with legislation and Aged Care Acts.

Your day-to-day will include preparing correspondence, maintaining accurate records in our systems, and using financial data to support informed decision-making.

This role is well suited to someone who’s detail-oriented, confident working with numbers, and comfortable managing conversations around payments. If you’re proactive, empathetic, and ready to contribute to a purpose-driven organisation, this could be the opportunity for you.

What we offer

  • Temporary 18 month contract – parental leave
  • Full time - 38 hours per week
  • Hourly rate $46.64
  • Not for Profit Salary Packaging, save up to $18,550 in tax annually
  • Commitment to on-going professional and career development
  • Subsidised access to your local gym and 200+ more across the country with a Fitness Passport
  • 24/7 access to mental, physical, social and financial support via EAP.

What you’ll bring

  • You’re a detail-oriented finance professional with a strong background in funding and contracts with a genuine commitment to building respectful, solutions-focused relationships with customers and stakeholders.
  • With proven experience in managing accounts, billing reconciliations, maintaining files to meet audit and regulatory requirements, and applying best-practice strategies, you balance empathy with accountability to deliver fair and sustainable financial outcomes.
  • You bring strong communication skills to every interaction – whether you're working with customers, internal teams, or external agencies - and are confident navigating sensitive conversations around payments with professionalism and care.
  • You’re passionate about contributing to a positive workplace culture and are proactive in identifying opportunities for process improvement, data-driven decision-making, and cross-team collaboration.
  • Experience in aged care, not-for-profit, or similarly values-driven sectors is highly regarded, especially if you understand the unique financial considerations and compliance requirements in these environments.

What it takes to do this work

  • Industry Knowledge: Understanding of the Aged Care Acts, the Residential Aged Care Assessment process and funding applicable to the aged care industry.
  • Systems Proficiency: Strong working knowledge of ERP/accounting systems and high-level proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, including professional telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively as a supportive and effective team member.
  • Relationship Building: Strong capability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
